Post subject:  Broken Key

The little "ear" on my jeep key which is used to hold the ring for other keys has split. Since the Jeep key is very expensive to replace I would like to try and fix it, but cannot think of a good repair. Any ideas ?

If you take it apart with the screw on the back, you can figure out where to drill a hole without hitting the inner parts. Then attach another ring.

Search ebay and the web, I recall seeing a replacement case for the big key.

I lost my key for a day about a week ago and I know that is a problem in programming if you only have one left and very expensive. I didn't know exactly what to buy based on my last eBay search so I posted a topic in the "General" section here (remember that there are more gassers and they use the same key). I got good responses and good links so go look there for my topic and you will find a lot of good links.

The EBAY suggesttion was a good idea. In fact, when I checked EBAY I found a site that sells the "shell" only (seems breaking the ear is a common problem) and you just pop out the electronics from the old key and insert into new shell and have locksmith cut a new key. All for less than $ 20.
