got the car back today from its 2nd f37
1st f37 only the t/c was replaced
2nd f37 (today) t/c, pump and cooler
apart from trying a custom t/c i really dont know what else to do
im not even sure if it is the t/c
as another possibility might be that the tcm is fighting against the in motion tuned ecm..

I am on day 3 of my Inmotion tune. With the Suncoast converter, it is fantastic to drive. Very punchy and peppy, and reduced lag. The extra engine torque and lower torque converter stall speed are really a joy to drive.

G'day, mate - the t\c is over-powered if the symptom occurs only during hard acceleration - if it shudders during normal cruise-type driving, not accelerating, then it may be the transmission, or fuel - either way, a shift kit will improve lockup pressure, the Suncoast t\c will handle all the power of the new tune, and the lift pump has cured some incidents of shuddering .

You blokes down-under have the Racor fuel manager head, but fuel aeration may be part of the problem - you can also try, temporarily, an electric lift pump, 5-9psi, no more than 30gph, Facet 40109\equiv - see 'aux lift pump' in this thread for more information
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... hp?t=24935

You may also want to consider adding an auxilliary transmission cooler as part of the fix.

Doesn't have to be HARD acceleration.
I'll use my +150K mile F150 as an example (traded in for CRD :D ).

I would get TC shudder under light/normal acceleration in 3rd and 4th.
Usually I could get it lock-up fully by taking my foot of the gas and slowly
ease back into it.
Now, I would attribute this to the lock-up clutch just being worn out.
Regardless of the age, if the TC lock-up clutch is of poor quality,
worn-out, or has insufficient apply pressure, it WILL start to slip and
cause a shudder.

I never experienced any of this with my CRD, pre or post F37. But I have
with other vehicles. Even brand new ones straight from the factory.
An engine that is miss-firing (for whatever reason) can make it difficult to
diagnose a TC shudder. But, a miss-firing engine will still missfire without
the TC locked-up. TC shudder only occurs during TC lock-up (high gear).

Has the transmission fluid level been checked :?: As I recall there was a incorrect amount called out on the instructions

My understanding is the Aussies with a 2004-2005-2006 CRD are stuck with the same filter head we are. Only the older CRD's had the good Racor.

guys thanks for the replys i think everyone that i have spoken to on here and face to face is in agreance that the f37 t/c just isnt up to the task of the inmotion tune so a custom t/c is next for me..

the air in the fuel for me is a weird one as i have no leaks but am able to bleed air weekly im being patient with this and waiting hoping for a recall/fix..
on a side note i have fitted a lift pump for arguments sake and was still able to bleed air weekly..
all the lift pump did for me was allow me to crack the bleed niple wothout priming...

What are your ambient temps there, this time of year?

What is the max pressure out of your lift pump?

we have just come out of winter and temps are now around 26 celsius
the lift pump that i installed breifly was of flow through design an rated 4-6 psi
i was still able to bleed air with the pump installed so found it of no useful purpose..

That could indicate a leak at the fuel manager or\and fuel is siphoning back to the tank - install the lift pump and check for wet spots when the pump is running and the line is under pressure - if you had previously installed it near the tank, that would be even better to pressurize almost the entire line.

Some '05 CRD's had problems with the fuel lines out of the tank to the fuel haed and had them replaced. They were not leaking fuel as I recall but were sucking air. The fix was to replace the hard lines and there was an updated fuel line part to fix the problem. It was not the original parts.

This sounds like it would make sense if the lift pump is still having air issues. Check ALLDATADIT.com for a TSB. Or i can for you if you need.

Sorry, I don't see anything regarding this in the TSB's.

Anyone have a suggestion on the best approach to take with the dealer?
