I just wish there was a way to print this out cheaply, but at 6072 pages for the 2006 model thats roughly $180 @ $0.03/copy. Took away my dream of a nice set of folder hard copies.

And yes, thanks to whoever sent it to Sir Sam. This is exactly what I needed to feel somewhat confident about working on my own vehicle. Blows a Chilton/Haynes guide away from what I can see. Should also answer some questions for those who either don't understand some design decisions, or do not know what all is provided for(like the possible lift pump issue).

BTW, I know this will reveal just how much of a newbie I am about cars, but I'd love a basic idea of what tools would be needed to cover the most common tasks I could run into. I'd love to assemble a toolkit that would allow me to do perhaps 75% of whats in this guide if possible.

Most sections list the required tools for performance of the various routines and procedures - add a setof metric wrenches, as 199buck set from sears, and you got it made

The problem is that I don't know which sections would be most likely to be needed. If I went and bought every tool in every section I'd spend thousands most likely. But thanks for the point on the wrenches. I definatly need to get some basic tools...

Yep - I just hope we've finally made it under the fence, Ed from down under - my '89 GMC is about half and half, and the '96 Dodge is about 65\35 metric\inch - wanna talk about yer hassle, trying 3 wrenches on every hex to get the correct size - and I've been wrenching since 1951 - I keep my drivetrain clean enough to eat on, which helps if the 10.8 can be seen, or the 3\5\6 hashes can be seen on the inch stuff - don't help much when it's the bolt threads and nut that's visible.

Sears has their 154pc set on sale fer 99bucks this week - and the flex-head gearwrench set is half-price - may be better deals in other areas of the country

Thanks, again Sam - I'da been a nervous wreck by now, waitin' for the official cd to arrive by brown, sometime next week

Many thanks, onthehunt

It's not the quantity or volume, Ed - it's that the full set of metric and inch pieces has to be available at each operation - guess I should just get a universal adjustable spanner and one of those multi-sockets where each size expands from and collapses into the next larger size, like in the back pages of Popular Mechanics and Mechanix Illustrated:

For only 14.95 (plus 19.95 tax and shipping and handling, not shipped to Puerto Rico and Hawaii) you, too, can work on any car in the world, metric or English, just like the pros, with only one tool! Impress your friends and neighbors! Be the first in your neighborhood to own one! Quantities may be limited, so don't delay! Order yours right now!

A basic set from Sears, metric/standard mixed, plus throw in some larger/deeper metric sockets and wrenches and you'll be able to shade-tree a lot of stuff you'd pay a shop to do, plus learn how it's done. Oh, and a six- or twelve-pack for the buddy who's helping you do the work  If you need specialty tools you can pick those up as needed so you don't spend a whole lot at the outset.
