Post subject: | Getting ready to sell my CRD... |
Ok, I am getting ready to sell my CRD and trying to determine a price to list it at. I haven't compiled a accurate list yet, but here is a summary off the top of my head... - It is a 2005 Limited, with most (if not all) of the options. Leather, power seats, heated seats, moonroof, chrome trim, disc changer, etc. - It has 47,XXX miles. - I just had the battery replaced with a brand new Optima red top battery less than 100 miles ago. - The alternator was also replaced at the same time as the battery, but with a used part with a 1 year warranty. I have the old alternator and will be getting it rebuilt. - I just had the windshield replaced today, it was cracked - I put a set of 5 General Grabber AT2's on it about 6,000 miles ago (got the receipt at home, so will lookup exact) - Just ordered a set of brake pads for the front and rear and they will be installed before I put it on the market. - Replaced the mass air flow sensor a few hundred miles back. - Replaced the stock air filter with an Amsoil filter. - Replaced the accessory belt a few hundred miles back. So, I looked on AutoTrader and did three searches... - There is only one CRD listed within 100 miles of me. It is a Sport with 24,000 miles and is listed at $18,200. - If I bump my search up to 200 miles, I get 10. Of the 10, only 3 are limiteds. One has 22,483 miles and is listed for $20,988, another has 62,656 miles and is listed at $18,499 and the third one has 53,634 miles and the price is unlisted. So of these 10, including the Sports, the prices range from $17,200 to $21,988. - If I remove the distance restriction and do a search for only limiteds, I get 67 results that range in price from $28,975 to $16,995. The unfortunate thing about AutoTrader is that there are a lot of duplicates. Anyway, based solely by what I have seen on AutoTrader, I was thinking about pricing mine somewhere at or just below $20,000. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions for selling it or the price? Also, just out of curiosity, I will be taking it to CarMax or DriversWay (a smaller, regional version of CarMax) just to see what kind of price they will offer me. |

You will defintely do better in the private market...dealers will tell you the story of "these are hard to sell"...then they will tack on a hefty profit. You might try using CraigsList.org and list it on the west coast...they are at a premium out there...people can get a vehicle shipped for $600 or so...no big deal. It sounds like you have kept yours in excellent condition and should be able to get near $21000 without any problems...maybe a bit more. |

There is a fellow on here now from Nebraska looking for one. My local dealer in Spokane just got one in on Thursday and had it listed for 21,900. It was an '05 Sport but I don't know about other appointments. It had 49K miles. |
