I just got the MAP I ordered from Wholesale Mopar.

It is not the right part. The part I got from them has part # 56044591AA

It is the sensor that attaches to the air box.

The correct part is a bosch part, not available on wholesalemopar.com

It looks like they sent me the 'right" part.

The MAP, according to Jeep, is the pressure sender on the airbox. The Boost pressure/Temperature sender is the one I am looking for and is the one called "MAP" on this forum. I cant seem to find this part fore sale online, yet.

Very strange. I was under the impression that the sensor in the airbox measured intake air temperature. MAP stands for "Manifold Absolute Pressure" Sensor .. and the name says it all. It should be reading the pressure in the 'Intake Manifold'... not the air filter box. Maybe they are both MAP sensors? One to register the ambient pressure.. (airbox) and one in the manifold which would register the pressurized or boosted pressure post turbo (in the manifold)? If the sensor on the airbox was the only MAP sensor... that would be silly. It would be like putting an o2 sensor in your headlight expecting to get accurate exhaust gas readings. It doesn't belong there.

Agreed, Nix

I found both senders listed in the service manual circuit diagrams. I have not found the description of the air box mounted "MAP" elsewhere in the manual, however.

An upshot, however, is that the pressure measurement in the airbox, if readable by a scanner, for instance, would give an indication of filter and intake resistance. This could be used to quantify airbox upgrade mods, such as the gasser box mod.

It would be nice to find out what the airbox mounted MAP sensor is used for, also.

Bill

There are two sensors on the air box lid. The ORM is the MAF but I don't know about the other.

Dave,

It is on the driver side, side of the box. It has two fasteners holding onto the box.

I think it is on the side of the air box lid to the engine side.

Nice fine print... no returns on electrical.

I am not very pleased with wholesalemopar.com in general.

Website does not provide pictures of items, or the part numbers prior to purchase.

Learned my lesson...

Anyone need a MAP sensor ! Ha HA

Bill
