Any ideas Gents?

I come down a hill, the tranny is locked in 4th, I figure.
I coast to a stop.
Then, since it is a road in the middle of nowhere, I try a WOT and a hard left turn.
Halfway throught the turn.... BAM ! a loud clang from what seemed like the tranny.
I did not notice the RPMS at the time.
Did not loose traction through the episode.

I figure there is something wrong with my TC and/or TC lock ?

Any ideas?

A good excuse for a call to Suncoast?

Thanks

Check the coolant fan\clutch assy, then try a similar right turn, then the left turn again

I had this happen a few times except in a right turn. I would leave this one parking lot, mash on the go pedal, and BAM!!! Sounded and felt like someone rear ended me. It only happened in this one spot. There was a little drop off where the parking lot met the road. I figure it was some kind of traction control event gone horribly wrong.

Something similar happened just driving down the road, cruise control on. Out of nowhere, BAM!!! Cruise never kicked off, Car didn't slow down. Sounded like I hit an animal but I didn't.

I sold the CRD the next week.

Thanks for the responses...

Could it be fuel starvation? Maybe the WOT pulled an air bubble in?

Could - go thru the suggested routines for further input.

My Jeep did this in the same place and I could duplicate it every time I pulled out of this one parking lot. I couldn't duplicate in other conditions. Full throttle-loud bang, less throttle-less bang, gentle take off-no bang. I think it is related to being in a turn, certain road conditions (pot hole or slick spot, maybe) and the traction control freaks out.

In this one parking lot, there is a curb that drops about an inch before it meets the road, a transition from concrete to asphalt and a paint stripe about 1 foot from the drop off. I don't know if it was the drop off, surface change or the paint that caused the problem.
