When we first drove around the CRD after the rollover we noticed that when coming to a stop or going over just the right bump the front end would make a very noticable clunk. Our first thoughts went to suspension, being as it had rolled over I thought it was likely it had damaged or knocked something loose during the accident, we went around and tried to torque every bolt on the suspension we could get to without any success.
The noise was so ubiquitous, you couldn't track it down via listening, and it was made worse by the fact that it couldnt be duplicated when you were trying to find it, very annoying!
I had read a couple of posts a long while back about loose motor mounts, I believe we had tried to tighten the bottom of the mount(think we tried that early on) without success, finally after a few months and no other ideas it came down to the top motor mount bolts, after much wrangling we got to the top bolt. Turns out it was just loose enough that without the proper torque it allowed it to thunk at just the right times.
I have half a mind to call the PO and see if they had the same noise before it rolled, it would be interesting to see if it was a pre existing condition or something that was caused when the jeep went turtle, for that matter it may have been there but not as bad before the rollover.
Who else in the past had the loose mounts issue?
