Last night, on my way to work in a driving sleetstorm, my CRD's wipers kicked the bucket. Just started moving about 2 inches up, sitting there for 5 seconds, dropping down and sitting for 5 seconds, back up 2 inches for 5 seconds, etc. They were doing this regardless of whether the wipers were switched on or off. Now they are not moving at all. It's obviously not a physical impedence (ice or snow on the wipers), since they won't move at all no matter how much I clear them, and since they were "twitching" when the switch was turned off. What should I check first? Is this something I can fix easily? Any help is much appreciated ... it's not precipitating anymore, but the roads are wet and the spray is awful ... and I have to drive this thing to work tonight.

Duh ... it was just the front/rear wiper switch fuse. Don't know why I didn't check that first. All I did was jiggle it and everything started working again ...

Mine squeek excessivly when on. Only from the drivers side. It goes to Jeep next Monday for this and a oil service.

Is it from the wiper-on-glass contact, or something mechanical? My wipers do that little chirp/squeek across the glass ... I think they sit for a while and get dried out, then don't flip over right and end up sort of shuttering across the windshield. It's awful, although I can't say that's CRD/KJ-specific. I find that universal in most cars ... no matter how much you change the wipers, they squark. Only car with a decent windshield wiping system I've driven is my 87 Mercedes ... it has a monoblade that does a fantastic job ... also leaves a larger area of visability.

Oh no it is in the linkage, I know it for a fact. If it was not under warranty it would have been fixed by now.

Last night my wipers started making a horrible gear grinding noise. It sounds like they are off track or something, and don't move as fast no matter which setting they are on. Any ideas? Still under warranty.

:D Yeah, my 100th post
