For those of us running lift pumps, I believe I've found a couple options for a cheap engine compt fuel pressure gauge. Installed upstream of the filter, it can give you a good idea of the health of your lift pump, downstream of the filter it can tell you how much pressure the inlet of the CP3 is actually seeing and over time give you an indication when it's time for a filter changeout, and with one each upstream and downstream of the filter give even more accurate indication of the health of your fuel system. At Advance, the gauge is under the Mr Gasket brand, on the same display as the Facet type fuel pumps. 1 1/2" diameter, 1/8" NPT connection on the back, 0 to 15 psi with 1/2 psi increments, $15. At Autozone, it's under the Spectre Performance brand. Gauge is less than 1" diameter, 0 to 15 psi, 1/8" NPT connection, comes with a plastic mounting tee to install in 3/8" hose, $15. |

They have both of them at Pep-Boys as well...same price. Im about ready to install a lift pump and will be trying the larger of the two out, downstream of the filter head. I know I am going to be tempted to get a remote one later on though, so I can moniter it from in the cab, but this will do for now. |

I got one from Summit Racing. I couldn't find any at the Autozone in town. I'm going to Tee into the second output of the Racor filter assembly along with the Omega temperature sensor. I might get it done this week. |

What's behind the downstream installation, Jeger - the CP3 lift pump is already downstream - upstream would be the preferred location for an aux pump, close to the fuel tank as possible. |

Right, lift pump upstream just off the fuel tank, and pressure gauge downstream just after the filter head. I guess it does read kind of funny... Anyhow I have the pump and gauge now just need to get a filter to put before the pump and a few fittings then I can put it all together. So that will be about another month

I installed mine last night on the output of the Racor filter assembly. It shows 4 psi. |

I installed the Facet 40109 before the cat filter and got the gage described above at AutoZone. I teed it in after the filter, just ahead of the CP3. With the ignition on but engine off, it builds up 5 psi max. With the engine idling it drops to 3. I couldn't test it under load, but I'm sure that cruising down the highway it drops to 1 or 2 psi. Shouldn't hurt the CP3, even without the bleed line from the bleeder screw. After shutting the engine off it immediately drops to 0. I removed it after the test. |
