You got two Starions? Sweet!
Very unique and underappreciated little cars. Impossible to find parts for.
I used to be a Mitsu tech and my best friend did Mitsu parts.

One is stock - I shoe-horned in an '87 Buick Grand National V6 in the other - plans are reconversion to the 3.4L Mitsu DOHC V6, possibly twin-turbo, using the V6 Montero RWD trans

In Sept., I paid 20800 for my 06 crd limited which included Chrysler Certified bumper to bumper to 80k. It had 28500k on it when I bought it. I live in NY but bought the crd in Maryland. I could have had a 05 sport with 40k on it for 17500 in CT, but I wanted heated leather seats and the built in nav....plus I like the selectrac.

You should see the prices on THIS coast. Diesels bring a higher price in the Seattle Portland area.

Yeah, I think I got a good deal. But what is up with diesel? Regular here is about 2.95 a gallon - diesel is around 3.35.

Who cares what you're "playing with"?

You're surprised that you took a hit on depreciation on an automobile in the first two years that you're trying to trade in?

TDI4BY, don't sweat it. Some people just get their panties in a bunch. If you had put your comments in somebody else's thread in an off topic sort of way, the griping would be justified. The fact is you didn't. Nobody forced them to read the thread. Even though I intend to keep my CRD and even though I would sell it to a private party if at all possible, I am still interested to know what people are being offered in trade.

Excellent
$14,675

Good
$13,635

Fair
$11,785

Never trade in a vehicle. The Dealer is never going to offer top dollar. They have to turn around and sell it to someone else and they're certainly not going to do it for the same price they paid you.

A private sale will get you more money than the Dealer would give you, but probably slightly less than the Dealer's resell price. But, you're still ahead.

That was sort of my point, I was passing on the fact that the deler trade in prices don't really give the credit the CRD deserves in comparison to the V6. Just thought some would be interested........I have seen more useless threads than this

One of the dealers I talked to more seriously said that the local auction price was around $16-16500 for comparable Sport models...

My suggestion- find a ~98-00 Montero Sport with the 2.4L and manual
transmission. It should slip right in with few mods. Then add a turbo if
you like. Or find a VR-4 but I don't know how well that 3.0TT will mate to
a RWD tranny.
I think the Starion makes a better road racer than drag racer and a smaller
motor up front will help with weight balance.

Ooh ooh! Find an old Galant VR-4 2.0T. Man you got my mind all worked
up now...
