Other than trying to modify your OEM housing where you can change out the original internal valve; which some have done with success; the only other one available is purchasing an OEM VM or Mopar replacement unit....
Thermostat - Mopar: 5142601AA
VM Manuf. No. 49012026F
Behr No. C97780

I have an HDS thermostat in my wife's CRD. If you want a permanent off-the-shelf fix that will give you peace of mind and don't mind the high price, then the HDS-001 is the only solution available at this time. The CRD is my wife's daily driver and it must be reliable. (See my signature for the list of reliability upgrades I've made to her CRD.) I can't afford the risk of trial and error with her vehicle.

Thank you 95Z28A4:

As you know I am no longer an Official Vendor with LOSTJEEPS.com due to my ongoing issues with Heather Thomas, who has a very strange idea on what customer support means and who is very selective on who gets to spin the narrative on this forum.

I therefore can not post my product directly or I will be accused of advertising and be kicked off by geordi.

The photos you posted are for my second generation Model 001. I now manufacture a third generation Model 001.

Unlike the upgrade from the first generation Model 001 to the second generation Model 001 where I added the threaded accessory ports, there really is no functional improvement from the second generation Model 001 to the third generation Model 001. The third generation Model 001 was designed and developed to make manufacturing easier in the Philippines, should I ever manage to get to set up a machine shop there.

Accessing parts can be way more difficult in a third world country, and while most of the parts are easy enough to obtain, that 90 degree hose barb I had been using in the 1st and 2nd gen units was a major butt ache to source - even in oil industry driven Edmonton. So I spent another $5100.00 CDN to change up the design once again to accommodate the realities of manufacturing in a third world country. The upside to this is that the lower hose barb is machined in place now, and the straight hose barb that replaces the 90 degree hose barb is stainless steel rather than carbon steel for about the same price.

I probably can not post the latest 3rd gen photos myself, but I will send you fellows those photos in a private message so you can post them on my behalf.

Best regards,

What is that sensor in OEM thermostat? My replacement thermostat doesn't have housing for sensor. :banghead:

That would be the OEM temperature sensor. Are you sure there isn't a port somewhere there? What is the thermostat source? Crown?

I have a HDS 1st gen maybe, best piece of aftermarket kit I have on my rig for what is does. Yes all the other mods are great as well. Quick warm up and constant engine temps 187-193, couldn't be happier. Yes it was expensive but so was the new head I installed from IDParts.

Please post photos of both sides of your thermostat assembly. You may have a thermostat assembly from an earlier 2.5L version of the Liberty CRD engine.
