Guys, I don't know if its the shudder you guys refer to at 55 or so, or the converter being jacked. I have not noticed any definete patterns, except for in the morning. I do have some inconsistent shifting, and I am F37ed. When I come to a stop at times, or right before I stop, the Jeep 'shudders' to me I think it feels like its the converter unlocking possibly right before a stop. And once due to this it died while stopping. However, I don't think I get up the speed where the converter would look as its usually in morning traffic and that fastest I may get up to is 45. I have checked the trans fluid and its ok, and I recently changed the fluid and filters. I'm going to bleed the fuel system this weekend, but with the inconsistent shifting, I'm lead to believe its something to do with the programming or internal to the trans itself. Any opinions? |

This only happens to me when I start it in the morning without giving it time for the tranny fluid to cycle. If I just get in and go, it shudders at the first stop sign, sometimes very noticeably. |

I would check the tranny fluid and if that is OK maybe see if pulling the battery cable overnight helps it forget past driving patterns. |

I had this happen - it was as if I was driving a stick shift and forgot to put the clutch in. My problem was the EGR air flow control valve. Also, I had the hesitation engaging in gears after sitting all night. That was the transmission filter that needed to be changed out so as not to allow the fluid to drain out overnight. Don't know if that will help your issue. |

Cow - I checked it when it first started doing it and level seemed to be fine. Club - I just changed the fluid about 4k ago with new filters. |

Have you had the air flow control valve checked? The transmission fluid/filters on mine was the delayed gear engaging, but the air flow control valve was the problem with the shudder coming to a stop. |

I have not. I'll have to look at the manual tonight to find it....is it that little filter attached ot the air box? |

It did the exact same thing to me after they replaced my converter. Idiots hardly put any trns fluid in it. As soon as they filled it up it ran like a champ. With low fluid it felt like you were driving a stick and didnt press the clutch before coming to a stop. |

I believe it is part of the EGR valve system, but I'm not sure. I was told that one of the valves was on the exhaust side and the other on the intake side. On other boards this valve is called the anti-shudder valve. I've also been told that the same CEL code comes on for both the EGR valve and the air flow control valve. But, you may not be getting an error code yet. |
