Go to the page and click the illustration and there is the electric fuel pump in the tank. Is this a parts department screw up where they pasted a gasser pump or is this a Chrysler campaign fix for the problem we have?

I bought my Carter pump that looks the same as the GM 6.5 L TD with hose fittings instead of threaded fittings, What the Heck!

Their misteak - those shown are for '02-'04 with the 4cyl and 6cyl gassers (patooie!) - the '05-'06 is identical to the '07 in my pics - the '05-'06 Diesel unit is listed as a fuel sending module - pump is not part of the description

Yes - and the pictures you added included a Cummins fuel filter head???
does it fit? The pictures on the website look a lot larger than the space we have.
does it have a fuel heater?, WIF sensor?, Temp sensor?
granted all of those are options on the .cumminsfiltration.com website - but does an off the shelf unit have them?
can they be added?

The Cummins fuel manager is similar in size but appears larger because the casting is for an internal filter cartridge - it doesn't require as much real estate as the Jeep unit

This version, for my truck, top mounts - that horizontal flange angle could be cut off and the vertical face drilled to fit the Jeep bracket - a version is available with that configuration.

The larger module plug on the pictured left side is the fuel heater

The lower, smaller plug is WIF, with the yellow drain lever in front of that

A Fuel Temp Sensor is required, as Ranger and Stan (eurekaboy) used for their Racor conversions

The top-loading filter access is most convenient, IMO, well worth any installation hassle

Soon's I can get another for the Jeep - I don't want to do any unnecessary surgery on this in-hand captive - sure as I do, the next one that becomes available will be the version without the 90deg flange, which won't fit my truck

I dislike doing mods that do not appear factory - I wired and connected the SEGR with oem DCX harness wiring, completely matching the colors in the Jeep harness - it's just another unremarkable factory-loomed harness in the engine bay - unobtrusive, low profile, blending in.

That's certainly an authentic pic of the module, but it doesn't reference Diesel - the V10 and V8 Hemi are 2500\3500 options.

Excellent find, if it's the Diesel module - Airtex is a source for oem water pumps, fuel pumps, etc

Also the parent company of Master.... available at Advanced and my personal favorite Auto-Zone. That way you have a local company to go to if you end up finding one bad under the 1 year warranty.

Sorry to go a bit off-topic. I installed a Carter fuel pump (P74029 from NAPA), but I'm seeing an interesting effect. At idle, opening the bleeder screw exhibits exactly what I'd expect: there is positive pressure in the filter, and fuel dribbles out the bleeder. But after driving it around the block a bit and opening up the bleeder, there is vacuum in the filter at idle, and air in the filter assembly.

It's rated at 72 gph free flow, so I would have expected pressure, not vacuum. Possible that the small fuel filter that they gave me to put ahead of the pump is the bottleneck? Or is this vacuum after a hard run to be expected?

I'd say the pre filter - but, put a fuel gage in line on the pressure side, see if it pumps ~5psi avg

As I posted earlier, my in-line Carter lift pump doesn't seem to be able to develop enough volume to properly feed the CP3 pump. If you've put in one of the Cummins in-tank pumps, have you tried seeing if that pump is able to keep positive pressure at the filter head under load? Or do you know what the flow rating is? I'd be most appreciative for some data points!

The concept is beautiful, George - pressure-ize a simple system, and the pressure will be equal at each point in the system.

72gph at 72mph is 1mpg

A fuel pressure guage trumps opinion - put a 20buck guage from autozone on it, post your results, and then we can diagnose any problem

I don't need to buy a gauge...opening the bleeder and seeing vacuum at that point tells me what I need to know. I'm trying to understand what others are experiencing with different lift pumps, including the in-tank Dodge unit. As for equal pressure throughout a simple hydraulic system, I understand that. But if something is pulling suction (the intake of the CP3), it is no longer just a simple system with static pressure from the lift pump. If the lift pump can't generate enough volume, the pressure gets reduced to 0 or below as the volume capacity of the lift pump is exceeded by the intake volume of the main injector pump. Am I wrong here?
