Dosen't really suprise me, in the Seattle area a Sport similiar to mine is selling for around $25k typically, I'd imagine a Limited would add a few grand. Diesel is very popular in the NW.... |

13 months ago I passed on a 06 CRD Limited with 11K miles for $18,999 because it did not have a EVIC. I bought my 05 Sport with less than 15K miles for $16,750. |

Bought my 2006 sport with tint, overhead display, alloys, and skids, in june for $20k with 11k miles. When I found it it had sat for 3 months and was to be picked up the next day because it was sold to an auction company. I guess it makes up a little for selling the Rubicon, took a hit. Extremey happy to have the CRD though. I figure I'll drive it for 10 years or more and save on depreciation. Maybe by then I'll have all the planned mods done. |

Post subject: | 2005 jeep on E-bay |
There is a 2005 limited on e-bay with a buy it now of 17,950. Fairly loaded, 36k. The prices on these will continue to fall as more people buy the Grand Cherokee, and the 2008 year is almost here. I'm hoping to find a better deal on a limited around spring. |

There is money to be made buying CRD's cheap in the Midwest and East Coast, shipping them to Seattle, Portland, and SF, and selling them at a premium. I just looks up the Blue Book retail price estimate on my 2006 CRD limited, all options but nav... $27,895 in my zip code (4 grand more than I paid for mine last spring). $22,080 for a plain jane Sport with the same miles. |

Anyone with average intelligence can throw blue book out of the thought process. This is my reasoning. Right now at my local dealer you can buy a brand new 2007 for $7500 off sticker. Think about that. Why would anyone give such a high price for a 2005 or 2006? The extra money could go towards the difference in fuel mileage, and you would get a brand new vehicle with full warranty..... Just my .02 I believe all the prices will dramastically drop come spring. |

I suspect as time passes, the CRD will command some pretty good $$$$ in some markets. Let's face it, small diesel vehicles are tough to find and many folks want them. CA will always be a high $$$$ market cause you can't hardly buy them new. We may be driving tomorrows classic today. |

The prices that Jeep CRD's (and VW TDIs, Sprinter diesels, etc..) are going for in Portland and Seattle have nothing to do with an economic argument about fuel savings vs. extra cost. They are commanding those prices because they can run bio-diesel. Until the new VW's (and diesels from other manufacturers) start arriving in numbers in the US, the prices will stay high. It would be interesting to know how many Liberty CRD's were bought for economic or torque reasons, vs. how many were bought for environmental reasons. The 20 mpg highway that my 4Runner got didn't phase me... I bought the Jeep to run biodiesel. |

A limited just sold on e-bay loaded with leather for 17,500 with 36k. Prices are on the decline. It will just continue as time goes forward. Dodge will have the cummins v-series in the durango and dakota soon also. Depreciation is inevitable. |

And I'm sure I could pick up a 2006 Jetta TDI for $18,000 off Ebay, if I was willing to drive to Florida. In Portland, the same car would sell for 23,000+. And if I could find a convertible Mustang in Ebay from Anchorage I could buy it for a song and sell it for a nice profit in Miami. No denying that prices for Jeep CRD's (and nearly any other vehicle) will depreciate over time. Our Jeeps are already losing value faster than VW and Mercedes diesels out here in Oregon. But I don't think folks in other parts of the country appreciate the depth of the biodiesel craze in the Northwest. http://www.registerguard.com/csp/cms/si ... id=1&fid=1 If you want sticker shock, do a used car search for a 2005 Passat TDI, or 2006 Jetta TDI, in the Seattle/Portland area. These cars are routinely going for more than they sold for new. |
