| Post subject: | Fumoto Valve & Map Sensor Question |
When the fumoto valve plug is in the pan and you drain the oil, does the plug fit flush inside or does it stick up inside the pan thus leaving oil in the pan? If it so, how much oil is left inside the pan? Map sensor, where is it located? I have 18,000 on my CRD and I just changed the oil, installed the Fumoto and changed the Air Filter which was dirty. I want to check the map sensor to see if it needs cleaning. When I stomp on it, black smoke is very visable, is this normal or should it be white smoke? |

MAP: http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=15249 About 1/3 down the page Fumoto: If I remember from installing mine, the adapter was about the same size a the plug. I haven't measured it, but I'm guessing if that adapter DOES go up into the sump, it's not very far and percentage-wise, the amount of oil that would remain is trivial and probably about the same as you'd have remaining in the other chambers of the engine anyway. Smoke: Typical when the air-fuel ratio isn't perfect (like on semis under high-load starting in low gears). The computer does things like delay turbo spool-up to reduce this and consequently reduces kick, so anything you do that defeats the computer's features (such as ORM) will probably result in a slightly more smoky launch. |

I have the ORM and an Inmotion tune and I only see smoke when I really get on it, and I typically don't see it unless it's night and the lights from the cars behind me make it show. In the day, I hardly ever see it. |

Look like your EGR is open or the air filter is very dirty. If the EGR is open then you will have to replace it and then do the ORM or the SEGR, check to see if you have a code. Nescosmo....... |

When I installed my Fumoto I checked to see if the adapter for it would protrude up into the oil pan, and it doesn't. The pan is very thick. |

Thanks for your reply's, I did change the Air Filter and it was very dirty for 18,000 miles. There was black oily areas on it. Put more air in my tires at 36 lbs for better fuel mileage. Fumoto is not leaking so far, but I had to tighen it pretty tight. I did not want to over due it for it might strip it out. |
