Ohhhh, whats this, I wake up to a box sitting on the counter.(though even though I saw it in the mornin I didnt connect that it was my box untill later in the afternoon, my Beavis didnt figure it out for about 6 hours) ![]() Success I got it open! ![]() Oh ya, get those suckers out: ![]() ![]() ![]() Installed into CATCRDs Jeep, edge of the temp sensor connector touches slightly: ![]() Touching slightly on the "accordian" "ribs" of the stock intake pipe. ![]() Overall install: ![]() The hose also touches slightly on the heater hose: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Samco had voiced concerns about clearance with the hood, I dont think we will have a problem from what I have seen so far, the hose seems to sit much lower than the AC line: ![]() ![]() ![]() Overall it looks like both Samco hoses are about 3/8ths of an inch shorter than CATCRDs hoses. I do not think this is in any way a negative, and in fact should make installing/removing them easyer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Where the passenger hose touches on the ribbed/accordian part of the intake hose: ![]() Where the heater hose touches: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From inside to out Fluro liner, layer of silicon, fiberglass wrap, layer of silicon, fiberglass wrap, outside silicon layer. ![]() CATCRD came over so I could see the fitment on his Jeep, these of course will also be installed on my fathers Jeep shortly. Yakers(if your watching), when Steve gets the hoses I wouldn't mind seeing how they fit on yours just as another data point. So overall comments on the Hoses. They are very well constructed as we have come to expect from Samco products. The turbo outlet hose stays a constant diameter, the factory hose does not and constricts somewhat. The flip side to this improvement is that the outlet hose now touches several places as shown above. Overall the Samco hoses are a little thicker than stock, leading to a larger diameter hose. Now let me be clear. I dont think the slight contact is anything to worry about. Nothing pushes sharply or with any force really. If anyone had serious concerns about the slight contact then you can simply reuse the chinese finger trap that wraps around the factory hose. The drivers side boost hose makes no contact with anything. The stock hose clamps have plenty of room to open up to be reused with the Samco Sport hoses. I do not think there is any reason to go ahead and upgrade to some more expensive and potentially higher quality clamps unless one of yours specifically has failed. The factory clamps do seem to be well engineered IMO and have a completely smooth contact surface(unlike cheaper hose clamps that are worm gear driven that can eat into rubber). If you want to upgrade your hose clamps I suggest at least trying to reuse your old stock clamps and inspect them for yourself, I think you will actually be pretty pleased with them. Overall the install was very easy and only took about 10 mins with the both of us there. After installing the boost hoses we took his jeep for a test drive, got on the boost several times, everything seems good. Pulled back in my driveway, got out and checked everything over, all OK. Pulled the hoses off and reinstalled his stockers, I don't think CATCRD was real happy to see them taken back off ![]() Any questions, comments, or requests for any other pictures? I'm sure CATCRD will come on and post his opinions and insights. |

Very complete set of pics and install information. I know I want a set although I still have 11K miles on warranty so might hold off on installation. Steve can test them on mine but they may suddenly become hard to remove ![]() |

When and where? I have a rather expensive order from the US pending so it might hit me hard in shipping. Race car parts NEVER come out cheap. |

They looked like very high quality hoses, and I'm looking forward to getting another set back in the engine bay. |

Those sure are purty. What exactly is the purpose of replacing the stock hoses with these hoses? |

Nice onee Sir Sam! Is Samco going to change the design slightly to stop the rubbing or that is the final design? |

Am I to assume that these SAMCO hoses are guaranteed not to degrade, leak and burst when exposed to oil? |

Am I to assume that these SAMCO hoses are guaranteed not to degrade, leak and burst when exposed to oil? honestly I dont think anyone has brought up the issue of a Samco warrantee. The Samco hoses have the Fluro liner to prevent degradation from oil exposure. They should hold many times longer than stock hoses. |

I bet alot. ![]() Well there can be alot of variation on what Samco kits cost. But given the relatively short life of the stock hoses these will surely pay for themselves over the life of the vehicle. ed. wrote: Nice onee Sir Sam!
Is Samco going to change the design slightly to stop the rubbing or that is the final design? I dont know. We only tested these saturday, within a weeks time I hope to have these tested on 2 other jeeps. I doubt there will be much variation between vehicles, but its nice to check. I will make my initial report to Samco tonight and see what they have to say. I figured it would be a good idea to get some comments and feedback on them before sending out an email that they wont read untill monday anyway. |

Great job keeping us informed! I am surprised that they do look a little different in shape and length from the stock ones since they took so long to get going while waiting on the sample stock hoses to arrive. Glad they have someone as detailed as you to evaluate them for them. I am convinced that the final product will be the best they can be. Black would be OK with me if it positivley affects the price any. |
