Post subject:  Schedule "A" vs. Schedule "B" Maintenanc

I apologize if this has been asked and answered. I searched a couple of different ways and couldn't find the answer.

My question is how often to "drain and refill the front and rear axle fluid." Schedule "B" says every 12.5K miles and Schedule "A" is silent on the matter. While I don't believe that I meet any of the criteria for Schedule "B" maintenance, I neither wanted to give the sensored word a reason to deny warranty nor did I want to burn out my gears or whatever happens with worn out fluid. So, I ask the stealership (first mistake). They tell me that the Schedule "A" is obviously an error and that the fluid should be replaced every 12.5K "A" or "B". Then they tell me it runs $420 (yes, in US Dollars). I do some research and find it should run about $70 per axle. They claim they "misquoted" the estimate and that they would do it for $140.

What say you?

TIA

I changed front and rear diff myself. It was a bit messy and took the better part of the day, but definitely doable! Changing it every 12k miles is retarded though. Every 25k-30k is plenty. Some people even say that once you changed the fuid out and put in some high quality oil (Amsoil) you dont ever HAVE TO change it again. I will continue to change mine every 25k-30k miles though.
