Yep I might be taking a job in Havre MT, anyone in the area? I need alot of relocation assistance. The net is great but if you have no idea what you are looking for it is hard.

OIL what is there for the CRD? I have been using the dealership here which has been great. From what I read it will be back to me doing the changers and servicese on the CRD.

DEALERS just in case there is somewthing I cannot fit

FUEL what stations are good and whiuch ones to avoid

other things, fishing, hunting, weapons permits, home owning, heating, racing, boating, lingo etc.

I have been looking out of town. I have no issie of driving 20 min to get to work. I would love to have about 400 acres and build a house in the middle. I here was a parcel of 438 acres for $225K!!!!!!! I want a small farm again. packing up for a month at a time is no big deal. I grew up doing that as a kid. "Going into town" was a special time. We even got excited about going to get gas for the car at $0.48 a gallon of LEADED gasoline.

I want to own guns again, so that will be a big plus having 400 acres. The one big issue is racing. I am looking at NASA and SCCA there and it is limited.

I am not a big fan. Havre is a dirty little town and I always get a cracked windshield when I go. What is there that you need to relocate to?

While I can't speak to Havre specifically, I can give some basic info on the area as we are moving to Polson, MT about 200 miles of so from Havre. Now this is as the crow flies. We will be on the south end of Flathead Lake which is famous for water sports and fishing. The lake is 28miles long, 15 miles wide and 300+ ft deep. Kalispell on the north end is just below Glacier National Park and is a fairly large city (by MT standards).

Hunting is great pretty much all over MT and Elk and deer season are long and inexpensive. Open carry, concealed carry OK without permit except in towns and etc. CCW pretty easy to get and they have good reciprocity (they honour my AZ CCW)

No sales tax but fuel is expensive compared to AZ. I was in Polson in Nov. and #2 diesel was 3.65 but red diesel (farm fuel) was 3.15. #1 diesel was running 4.00 with 50/50 blend in between. Diesel is easy to find as is oil, etc,. Plenty of WalMarts around also. Also plenty of Dodge and Jeep dealers, and many diesel vehicles on the road....although my little CRD was quite a novelty. (I had one chap offer me 24K on the spot while refueling)

Naturally, it can get quite chilly with some snow depending on where you live. Wind can be a problem in the flat areas as can rain. There are plenty of arid areas and forest fires are common and huge.....check into this carefully in Havre.

I'm going a little stir crazy here, our track closed down over a year ago, and we are still working on getting funding for our new one which looks like it will be delayed untill summer 08.

Right now the only track we get to use is the state patrol track, and its only availible to us once or twice a year.

Leash law, Montana, I don't think so. Most drive around with there dog's loose in the back of there pick up's. Don't stick your hand in the pickup, the dog's think the pu's are there's and act accordingly!
Montana is pretty big on letting people do there own thing, just respect the other person doing his own thing.
The golden rule pretty much works there, don't do anything you wouldn't want done to you, personal liberty abounds.
You can buy buffalo anywhere, some canned buffalo hunting, I think, no season, there are no"wild buffalo".
Not much fly fishing near Havre, get down to the Missouri, use the last of the car ferries, really a lot of fun. I think that Lewis and Clark said that the Milk River" was to thick too drink and too thin to plow". Great Fall has the Charles Russell Museum and the new Lewis and Clark exhibit, it goes on and on. Go online and get a copy of Montana Magazine, really great, also Big Sky Magazine. Winter's a real &^%$( on the high line though, again if you like the oudoors there's snowmobiling, dog sledding, cross country skiing etc.
