I've been running the ORM for >25k miles (have 75k total miles). Need to visit the dealer to diagnose a "chirping / squeaking" sound from the lower, front center of the engine. Do I plug in the MAF sensor and clear the codes, and what should I expect to happen after its plugged back in?

I have a 2006, so it may be different, but it takes 3 starts after I plug it back in, to turn off the light and clear the codes.

Or....plug it back in and stop by your local auto parts to use their code reader to clear the codes.

I have a code reader and routinely clear the codes. My question is - what will happen when I plug in the MAF after 25k miles? Is there a soot accumulation behind a now closed valve, or something similar, that will be released when the sensor is plugged back in? Will my egr suddenly become clogged?

I've plugged mine back in for dealer visits with no ill effects.

What Chad said. Generally it will stay cleaner ORM'd so a problem is more likely to occur when you unplug it I would think.
