Was going to sell the jeep but giving it one last try. I friken loved my 85 bmw trip computer i could let off the gas and see my current mpg, also the average mpg, range to go. I liked these options so would a 2002 kj evic be the way to go? i dont need tire pressure.

Watch Ebay, I've been doing the same thing. I just won an auction for a 2002 Concorde overhead console that I thought was an EVIC, but I think it's an OTIS. I guess I'll need to put it back on Ebay... unless you're interested. :)

EVIC's are nice i just wish on the 2005 there was an option for an instant fuel economy mode... not just an avg

Post subject:  Yes i want the instant also! I have the upgraded bcm

So whats involved on 2005 crd, do i pop out the old trim in with the new? What wires need hooking up? I would think everything is prewired

If your KJ is made after 04 you must get a KJ (really do not get anything else) EVIC from after 2004. If your KJ is from before 2004 get an EVIC like me from a Grand Cherokee 2000 and you got instant MPG as well as everything else.

This little 04 problem is because the OBDII runs on CAN instead of PCI. Makes sure the EVIC and car uses the same!!

EDIT: Oh yeah, sorry. After 2004 they also removed the insert in the roof for the EVICs. This means you must buy a $6 part from the dealer and remove your existing insert for your overhead lights. I can't help you further than this sorry. I have heard people having problems with the inserts on newer KJs. In my 2003 the insert was there and adding an EVIC was easy as nothing. I have a writeup on it on the tech section for the CRD...

Doh. So I need a 2005+ EVIC for my 2006 CRD? If so, I guess that 2002 OTIS is useless to me anyway...

yup, trust me (and uffe) on this! i just installed a '02 evic on my 05 crd for nothing! big useless hole and a weekend lost

find a liberty overhead for same year or + for any '04+ model you have

That is a bummer, since I really wanted the "fancy" 2002 EVIC that had instantaneous MPG and TPMS...

me too, i'm contemplating ripping of every bit of that stupid chrysler interface and hook up directly to the engine which I'm sure is more compliant...
of course that's not possible, but dreaming and some adult beverage is helping me here
