| Post subject: | CRD cold starting issue |
Over the past two months my 06' CRD has been taking 5-10 cranks to start in the cold (around 35 degrees or colder). I have always let the glow-plug indicator light go out before cranking and never had the issue last winter. I haven't had any check-engine lights (knock on wood) indicating a bad glow-plug. If I plug the engine block heater in overnight the jeep starts right up and I don't even see the glow plug light. If I let the ignition sit in the on position, after the glow-plug light goes out, for an additional 5-10 seconds the jeep starts up after 2-3 cranks. Anyone here experience this before or have any ideas? |

This has been discovered and discussed lately. Some guy found the cure for the problem, do a search of cold starting issues or wait till he comes on to help you out. |

If you don't have a lift pump, make sure your fuel filter is bled. My CRD will take up to 5-6 rotations before catching in the cold, unless the filter is bled, then it starts in 2. |

Also could mean that a simple fuel filter change can fix it. |

Changed the filter about 6k ago; will bleed it tomorrow AM to see if it fires right up or not. |
