Hi there
Does anyone know the procedure to make the TPMS accept lower tire pressure? I have 255/70 winter tires and will get 245/75 during the summer. My experience says 30 psi is too much for driving on rough roads and the manual p. 269 says this can be lowered by authorized dealers.
"NOTE: For vehicles with optional wheel/tire sizes and
significantly different tire placard pressures, the placard
pressure value and the low-pressure threshold value is
re-programmable at your authorized dealer to accommo-
date the customer selected wheel/tire combinations rec-
ommended by DaimlerChrysler Corporation."
I took my 2006 CRD Limited to the dealer who hooked it to his computer. He did not find out how to get to the menu that allowed this reprogramming and finally gave up, but he had just tried the same programming with a Grand Cherokee Limited Hemi 2005 with no problem. Apparently the menus for the software for these two models were quite different.
