Ha, Steve mentioned you had found your way onto lost! Post some pictures up! I know steve isn't happy with the tint on his winders either, if you haven't seen it recently we put new tires and wheels on it along with welding up some roof racks for the thule.


I see you still have my old XJ, glad someone gets to see use out of it.

Yep, I have been reading a lot (there is a lot to cover on this site!) Don't post too much but will when questions or problems arise. My CRD is a Limited and its RED. Its not exactly the stripped model I would want but my wife likes all the extra 'stuff'. I saw the tires and they look good, even better is the Thule roof rack set up. I have Yakima rack collections from my old VW camper and Cherokee for carrying kayaks (of course) but I have to get adaptors to use them on the CRD.

As to the old XJ, it continues to run (replaced a CPS and couple minor things) but youngest son has just started off to Cal State Long Beach and he considers it 'his' despite my telling him it is part of our family fleet and subject to removal for trips out to Death Valley and the like. I have some reservations about taking the KJ where we take the XJ, with the shocks pumped up and the BFG TA KOs it can go about anywhere. Now the CRD looks like it could do the same with a little lift & the right tires but I would hate to ding up that beautiful new red paint and the intended purpose of the CRD for us is to tow a small trailer (a T@da, 17 ft, 2,500lbs empty,3,500 loaded) for road trips.

Its nice to see your posts and efforts on the hoses and other parts. We'll get to play together sometime.

If your used to what the XJ can do then you will be disappointed in the KJ, with my fathers new tires I think he has gained some ground clearance, I would be interested to see what difference they make, for the small bits of offroading we have managed to squeeze in with it I was pretty disappointed.

How many miles are on my former XJ now?

Welp, welcome to the forum, there sure is alot of reading to do. I'd recommend you go ahead and disconnect the MAF for your next full tank fuel up and see if you notice an improvement in your MPG. Hopefully sometime relatively soon you can check out the Samco hoses on Steve's. I think the next thing I will be setting Steve up with is the cummins lift pump, no problem yet from his fuel filter head, but the cummins setup looks very nice.

A lift makes a world of difference. The front of the Libby is waaaaaaay too low stock. A lift gives you gobs of clearance under the lowest point between the front wheels, far more than the 2 inches it gives you overall. It actually rides smoother over stuff than my friends Cherokee (with the lift), of course the Cherokee still can go over much bigger obstacles.

It doesnt surprise me that it would be smoother, the IFS really is superior in that regards, which is why most modern vehicle use it.

My son is back to college or I would post a pick of its current condition. Runs pretty good. Has funny Metal stickers on it, I get strange looks when I drive it :roll:
Next plan for it is to drive it this summer up to northern Canada up the Dalton Highway, last 450 miles are unpaved, and finally kayak in the Arctic. I'll have pictures fro that. I would love to take the KJ but just don't want to beat it up so much.

I was also wishing I had brought my camera with me when we went to your party, would have taken some pics then.
