Just in-case you want to know about all the extra taxes we pay on Diesel that are lower on Gasoline in most states: http://www.gaspricewatch.com/usgastaxes.asp I pay an extra $0.085 per gallon tax in Illinois and our friends in Florida pay $0.127 per gallon in extra tax. The rest of the extra we pay goes to the oil companies. I am glad out Diesels crank more MPG and torque Steve |

Geez, some of these states are really raking in the money - several of them 30 cents per gallon or more. That's $6 just in taxes on a single 20 gallon fillup. They're literally raking in millions per week. Figures - NC is one of the highest, every state surrounding is at least 10 cents lower. |

In Oregon I pay the same for gas vs. diesel, and receive a 20 cents per gallon tax credit for using B20 biodiesel. |

Just wait till congress passes new legislation they are wanting that will increase the Fed fuel tax .25-.40 a gallon over what it is now. It is in the works. Probably won't occur this year due to election cycle, but watch out for 2009. And it probably won't matter who is elected. this tax increase has been seriously talked about for a few weeks now. |

LOL, that's nothing. We pay 80% tax on diesel fuel and 90% on gas in Denmark. About $6 per gallon of diesel and $7.5 for gas. This is why diesel is so interesting in Denmark. |

.....go to fix the roads Driving into Chicago and dodging potholes to go to the Airports is a true off road adventure for me that the Jeep was designed for and I am checking salvage yards for skid plates Back to the topic of the thread: Should one of the Presidential Candidates move into the White House, the Foreign Aid Budget will go up at least 7% and increases in fuel taxes will be inevitable What some of our fuel taxes go after they rob the fund: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znJo91kPGys |

Pretty similar in the UK with fuel tax and vat on each litre/gallon. Current price is around £5 for UK Gallon or around $10 at the current exchange rate. Cheers Lee |

Driving into Chicago and dodging potholes to go to the Airports is a true off road adventure for me that the Jeep was designed for and I am checking salvage yards for skid plates Ah blast, I have a small correction. We pay a fixed amount per litre of fuel, not a percentage. It comes down to 50 cent per litre of diesel and 78 cent per litre of diesel. CO2 taxes amount to 5 cents per litre of anything. On top of the tax and the real cost of the fuel comes the VAT at 25%. Yeah baby! This means, for diesel we pay $1.03 for the real fuel, $0.50 in tax, $0.03 in CO2 tax and then $0.39 in VAT. Total cost $1.95 per litre! Yeah multiply all those numbers by 3.78 if you want those prices for gallons. Please remember too that Denmark is self-sufficient in oil. We got to drain the north sea, and we even export some of our oil to neighboring countries, STILL we pay that tax. Incredible. To then answer your question: NO. Roads are paid by the government in some areas (highways, freeways) while all other types of roads are paid either by the local county or by the private person. But don't worry, we pay between 48% to 71% tax on income, and 225% or 75% tax on cars. There should be money enough! |

Saw it on the news this past week where old George was over in Tanzania giving them a aid package worth a few hundred million. He just didn't bother to tell them that that money was borrowed from the Chinese. Making some comments about the Tanzanian government, old foot-in-mouth said "Americans don't like giving money to people that waste it or end up stealing it". Yeah, at least that's ONE subject he's an expert on! |

| Post subject: | CO2 TAX... |
Uffe: Do they apply the CO2 tax to Thatched Roofs and Compost Heaps Diesels should get a break on CO2 tax (more efficient engine) in respect to Gassers, right Also since there is less refining and energy put into refining, diesel Fuel should get a bigger tax break, right Plus, a lot of what would be Diesel fuel gets turned into gasoline by catalytic cracking which uses up even more energy Gassers should pay extra, right Since Pot produces CO2 and a lot of energy is used for lighting and fertilizer, Pot Heads (who dream up tax laws like CO2 tax) should pay the most CO2 Tax Steve |
