So yeah... It appears to run fine if I am not accelerating hard, but if I floor it, there is a chance it will completely die or sometimes go into a limp mode with very power, but acts fine when I restart it. Could this be a dirty fuel filter? I am not getting a CEL.

On an off topic, anyone have any grille inserts they really recommend for winter that will improve winter fuel economy?

Mine does the same thing when the filter starts to get clogged I change it and the problem goes away I have been using a wix filter from Orielly Automotive.

Also check for leak around the connector closest to the brake booster\cylinder

You probably have the same situation as most of us do. Does it start to shudder and sound like a 2 cyl john deer diesel? Does it run so rough that the rear view mirror almost falls off? Are you just amazed there are no codes thrown for the CEL to come on? This air getting into the fuel system among other things is not good at all. As I end most of my posts around here. Look into your states Lemon Law.

I have never had any of the problems described above. I don't think it is as wide spread as you think. Then again I could have jinxed myself with this reply.

Took it to the dealer today, yep they said it was the fuel filter based on the codes it was throwing. 40 for filter, 95 for labor... could have been worse i guess

95 is lot to pay (in the summer) for labor ... I'd prolly pay that if it was below zero mysef.

You most likely have fuel filter that has seen too much debris or gel. Gel will come and go with the fuel warmed up and slightly warmer weather. Before you change the filter, pump up the primer until it is hard and pop the plug gmctd is telling you about and look for a leak. I have helped out a couple CRDs in my town get the freebie by doing some aggressive pumping on the primer. If you have warranty left, give your dealer the chance to hit up Chrysler LLC for the $250 and you will get a new filter element for free. If you don't have any warranty left and have a leak, pick one of the well engineered options discussed in the CRD threads.
Warranty or no warranty, install a lift pump, read the threads and pick one, do it.
