PML deep pan vs Plate type oil cooler mounted in series with existing cooler, anyone have an idea which is the best bang for the buck? Here is the email from PML: Steve, Lacking a data recorder, the vehicles, and a heavy trailer, we don't have the data you're looking for. What I can tell you is what customers have told me they are seeing. Most of the feedback I've had is from Ford F250/350 owners. The trans pan that PML makes for their trucks holds 3 qts more oil than stock. This is the same capacity increase you would see with your Liberty. Most of the Ford people see between 10 and 20 degrees less temperature on their gauge pulling the same trailer at the same speeds and conditions. I would say that range of temp drop would be a reasonable expectation for you. Hope this is helpful. Thanks for checking with PML. Why would you need something that extreme? These are huge rigs towing lots of weight. I have the PML pan with a trans temp gauge and call it good enough. |

Do you have the factory tow package? If so, that should have a tranny cooler installed. In addition, I believe the tranny detects overheating and downshifts to increase fluid flow for additional cooling. The CRD tranny is the same as the one used behind the HEMI GC and I tow with that on a regular basis without an overheating. Many thousands of miles of mountain towing. This is one tough tranny and I'm not sure you have any concerns. Try just adding a temp gage to see if any problem really exists. |

All CRDs have the factory trans cooler, but with all of the BEAN COUNTER stunts, I just want to play it safe. I plan to keep my Jeep for a long time. Reading this forum is one way to help us all accomplish long term ownership. |

There is plenty of room for an aux cooler and it would seem much cheaper and easier to do than dropping the pan. |

I received the shipment of my PML 11039 Extra Deep Pan from Air-Ram www.AIRRAM.com at the cost of $195.00 delivered. This week end is too cold -20f wind chill and we need to get ready for a work related trip next week. When I get it installed, I will post the pics. Steve |
