Hi, i have a few questions:

Heater pump clutched @ pass side uper engine compartment ? what does it do ? and why the engine seems to get a workout like if the ac was on ?

Everybody sais their ac pump (lower dirver engine compartment) works all the time, i dont seem to be able to get mine to click in. If i unplug the ac fuse, the water heater pump thing clicks in and out but no matter what i do to the ac doesn go on (not evn on defroster). Any sugestions ? (btw is like 30 F outside)

Finally, did anyone Dino their truck before and after f37 ? how much torque/hp takes out?

thanks !

The clutched heater pump - is a viscous oil pump - who's sole purpose is to warm up the engine/radiator fluid - helps provide heat in about a mile or so - without it expect the engine to take 10+ miles to warm up - although some folks have pulled the fuse for it in the summer time. Mileage effect = AC compressor running - it does stop when everything's warm.

the AC compressor will turn on with the air flow position set to defrost, defrost + feet, feet only - the defrost is dramatically better this way - the foot position is only to make sure the compressor gets cycled - therefore lubricated in the winter. somewhere there's a thread on changing this - If I can find it later I'll link it.
FYI - if it doesn't turn on for defrost - something's wrong (but don't go by the little light that doesn't come up)

several discussions about dyno's & F37- haven't seen any results. personally I don't think they affected the engine that much - what they did was move the computer controlled transmission lockup to 400rpm past the torque peak - same result - you go slower but a dyno would say the engine the same.

The KJ CRD was sold and still is on sale today in the EU.

The quoted outputs have never changed but when you try and use maximum torque the gearbox and engine management takes the revs higher so you can't actually make use of it.

Pre F37 my KJ used to rocket of the line with the revs building all the time. Now the revs go high and the KJ catches up, it may be safer for the TC but it sure is slower.

Cheers
Lee

The A/C running in floor position is to help avoid fogging up the windows in the winter. In the winter, when you have snow on your shoes and the floormats, blowing hot air down onto the floor puts a ton of humidity into the air. It then likes to condense on the cold windows. I found this out first-hand on another vehicle when I had defeated the A/C from running in floor mode, and I noticed the windows fogging up constantly in the winter.

FYI - this is the 'turn off the AC in floor mode'
http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=6042&highlight=compressor

it might help with snow on the floor --- but Austin gets that stuff about once every 6-7 years - so we only see it when we drive up to Colorado.
