Post subject:  SEGR installed

Yesterday I installed my SEGR kit. I want to send a big "thank you" to Nathan for building the kit for me. He did a fantastic job and he's a nice guy to boot. :D Also, I'd like to say thanks to the whole crew who put the SEGR build into motion.

With regard to my installation, I soldered all of my connections. I found that the instructions were very good. I mounted the SEGR onto the backside of the flip down panel under the steering column. It's easily accessible and I didn't have to worry about a low mounting point if my Jeep were partially submerged. The velcro supplied in the kit made the mounting extra easy. From start to finish it took me about 3 hours (this included time for an oil change too). This was with a few breaks, double checking wires and taking extra time to ensure a clean install especially with the rewrapping of the ECM wiring harness. I could've done it a bit quicker but it was my day off anyway.

I changed the oil at the same time so hopefully I'll see cleaner oil for longer periods of time. I've already noticed a slight increase in fuel economy but I don't have enough miles to make an accurate assessment of the true mileage yet.

Thanks again guys!

Tim

Post subject:  another (hopefully) successful install

I was hoping for a 3 hour install but ended up having a bad soldering iron and spent over an hour trying to get the first tap soldered in. Raced to Radio Shack for a new iron and completed the remaining connections in an hour. Total time for me was 5 hours (including the trip to RS and having to stop and get the kids from school).

I don't have a way of clearing the CEL so will have to wait for a few driving cycles to see if I connected everything correctly.

Now for the front hitch install........

I should stick to carpentry........
