Frankenlift on a CRD

Post subject:  Frankenlift on a CRD
Has anyone installed a Frankenlift on the CRD despite the warning that it may sag???

I would like to try it since it seems like the best lift hands down but I am afraid to be the guinea pig.

The CRD weighs about 200 lbs. more than a V6 KJ. Some of that is the heavier tranny, and some of it is the engine. So the extra weight is distributed throughout the vehicle...it's not just in the front end. And it's not much extra weight to begin with.

I do not see why on earth a Frankenlift won't work. The only reason I ordered a Daystar lift is because that's all I could afford. But if I had $750 laying around I'd put the Frankenlift on my CRD in a flash.

I guess those guys saying you can't run a coil lift on a CRD must not ever carry passengers. Because if you put a passenger in a V6 KJ it will weigh the same as a CRD with just the driver. :roll:

That is sort of what I was thinking too. But I talked to Quinn at Al J and he was pretty adamant that it would sag. I am itching to try it though.

I took my KJ to a truck stop and weighed in on the CAT scales. The front end weighed in a around 2,200 lbs. So the springs in the front end of a V6 KJ would be supporting about 2,100 lbs. Mine are supporting 2,200 lbs. I just can't for the life of me see what difference that really makes.

I know what you are saying...all the KJ guys swear up and down that if you run a coil lift the CRD will sag. But I just don't see how. These aftermarket coils will support 2,100 lbs. without sagging, but 2,200 lbs. will be too much for them??? I just don't get it.

Then again, I haven't tried it personally so who knows. If you decide to try it, let us know your results.
