UFO,

Would you mind reviewing the current SEGR build and price differences?

I know that the soldering is $50.00 and the complete build is $175.00. I'm kind of unsure of the specific build differences and what the extra $125.00 includes. I have read that it gets tested, harnessed, and a bypass plug. Just wondering if I'm missing anything else. Also...does that include shipping? I need to set up my payment to Dennis and I will probably include your payment as well. I just nedd to decide which way to go. I will PM you with my info soon.

Thanks,
Dave

No problem.

If you are comfortable with wiring and mechanical assembly, I can do all the electrical work for $50 (including US shipping). This includes soldering all the components to the PCB, cutting and attaching the proper length wires to the PCB, and crimping the connector pins to the wires.. I will also build your bypass plug for you -- the new kits have the parts for this included. You will still have to drill the box to mount the PCB, power resistor and connector housing, as well as build a harness to wire the SEGR to your CRD. Typically this is 9 wires about 5 feet long (not included); you will have to crimp the connector pins and insert them into the supplied connector that mates to the SEGR box.

For $175 (including US shipping) I do all of the above for you. You get a completely built and tested box, a color-coded harness with bypass plug, and written install instructions.

So, with the full build, we would just be left with tapping/splicing the nine wires into the factory harness. Right?

Thanks again,
Dave

Yes, to answer your question. I got one of the pre-assemble SEGR's and the directions are great. I had a bad soldering iron(low wattage and wouldn't flow the solder into the wiring) so it took a couple of hours extra to install but that was my problem. W/O the iron problems it would have been a 3 hour job for me (not electrically enabled).

One note. Since the battery is disconnected for the wire tapping the TCM has to go through a learning cycle after the SEGR installation. Vehicle response is sluggish for the first couple of drive cycles but then goes back to what you expect with just the ORM.

The pre-assemble SEGR was well worth it to me and I would gladly have paid somebody to do the install.....

I got mine done yesterday. Many thanks for the competent help, without which, I would not have attempted it.

The wiring itself is not that hard-- once you have the SEGR built and assembled and only have to splice the wires in.

I have only been on a couple drives with it and have not noticed a definite performance difference versus the ORM, but did the fuel lift pump earlier this week and that has made a huge performance difference. The fuel mileage since installing the SEGR maybe up, as I drove a good 80 mph for 60 miles yesterday and the fuel needle hardly budged (it stayed close to half a tank). I will keep an eye on the fuel usage, hopefully the SEGR helps just a tad.

Between the SEGR, lift pump, and the Suncoast this thing is running great.

I had UFO do mine and he did a great job. It saved me a lot of time and hassle not to mention that it was done right the first time.

**This was not a paid endorsement**
