| Post subject: | mystery cam plugs |
I ordered an engine out of a 2005 Liberty CRD. I pulled the intake manifold and had it hot-tanked to clean the gunk out of it. In the process, I pulled the cam plugs from the back of the intake and bought new injector seals, new timing belt etc. for reassembly. I am having a hard time getting replacement plugs. All of the dealerships I have contacted regarding these plugs have the same part number (05066855aa) yet this part number is a metal threaded plug. I need a rubber plug with no threads. Here is a picture below of the two side by side. I need the black rubber one on the right in the picture. Any recommendations?

Looks like a production upgrade - assemble the cover to the head, machine and thread the opening for the new plug |

dieseltoyz, Your black plugs should be stamped "VM 21772107 F" on one side of them. This is the outward facing side. Unfortunately, they aren't serviced directly from DCX it appears. Unless you damaged them upon removal, they are designed to be removable per the service workbook and my experience working with them. Just put a thin layer of Permatex/silicone around the edge and knock it back in as the intake is tapered at that hole. If you need replacements, let me know I can get them ordered for you. |

Just a heads up to any following this thread, VM Motori got back to me this morning with a part number: 05179593AA. Problem is that this part number is export only in the US. |

Todd, I've been out of town all day and didn't get a chance to put a call in. I'll take care of contacting them first thing in the morning and let you know what I can find out about procuring them. Export or not I can get anything. |
