I have not been F37'd. If I send my unit in to Inmotion to be programmed and later the dealer F-37's me, can Inmotion get me back to where I was pre-F37?

i believe once you paid they will reflash,, upgrade or downgrade for free. this is what i read though.

and make sure you tell them it is pre-f-37 so maybe they will keep yours on hand for people that just want to get rid of the f-37

This might be a stupid newbie question, but i know inmotion can make an "image" of your ecu to restore it to original programing if you want.
I wonder if they can make the same with the tcm to restore it to other tcm`s.

Inmotion can only deal with the Engine control - the Transmission control is encrypted and they haven't broken it.

If you haven't been F37'd, ask them if they can copy the TCM software you have (this is the holy grail for a lot of folks here).

But since yours is a 2006, it was likely F37'd from the factory. Does it show as an outstanding recall for you on the Jeep website?

Mine is an early '06 and has an open "Customer Satisfaction Notice" for the F37 that I have neglected to have completed  due to insufficient time available to offer the dealer to complete the upgrade! I told them I could make time for it if the tractor was experiencing any of the symptoms or they could guarranty the pump would also be replaced.....they couldn't make that guarranty.

Maybe the forum participants here could take up a collection to help fund getting your TCM software copied :)

If the 05 tcm will take his software, I'll certainly chip in for InMotion to copy it!

I took a look today finally, and my TCM ends in AJ. It doesn't look like it's had any extra stickers applied, unless they peeled off the old ones. So I suspect they might have replaced my TCM at some point, probably when the F37 was done before I got the thing. Bummer.

Somebody needs to do some handshaking with the Hemi crowd, then, as they seem to be doing it with the Starscan - that's the same 545RFE software in their TCM, also in their later single-board PCM - only difference is our Bosch back-off vs their Mistu-bi-oshi back-off - the transmission control firmware should be the same, otherwise, with only minor differences in shift-points due to the Hemi's wider RPM range - the basic 545RFE multi-speed auto trans software has to be identical, thru-out the lines - CRD, V6, V8, Hemi - as the transmissions are identical, with only slight variations in torque thruput and shift points, which is purely software controlled

Can the Hemi guys crack the tcm coding to copy and modify it?

Cowcatcher,
you really need to protect the TCM. The ecm can be fixed after the F37. The TCM can't. All you have to do is trade TCMs with someone that already has the F37 done. Then when you have the F37 done to your jeep you can get your old TCM back from the person you traded with and you will have your old shift points back. then send ECM back to Inmotion and you will never know the F37 happened.

Everyone who hasn't done the F37 should do this, just as a precaution, if the ever want their jeep to go into the dealer for a warranty claim. We need to preserve the good TCM that we have left.

It is hard enough to identify if you have the recall or not, since lazy techs don`t always put labels on the tcm.

I got labels for the ECU but my tcm has no labels on it.

Does anyone know (for future reference) how the shiftpoints changed?

This would be easyer to compare just by riding your truck if it has the flash on the tcm

I have 2 CRDs, one pre F37, one post. Only difference in shift points are:

Pre F37: Last overdrive w/lockup at 58mph

Post F37: Last overdrive w/lockup at 62mph

On either one, once above that final shift, you can lug it down to 56mph before it downshifts.

The better question would be - what's the engine speed at lockup/shift - especially at the lower speeds
(I didn't record mine - but I know it's worse afterwards)

CATCRD, I have two TCMs as well (f31 and f37) and the shift points are more different than yours. The f31 shifts at a lower rpm than the f37, by about 400-500 rpm. I don't know why this is but this is fact.

I don't doubt you. My pre F37 jeep is also pre F31, so that could be it. Also, the shift points I referred to are at light accelaration, since it's too hard to spot shift points accurately while accelarating hard, or to keep your foot in the same position from car to car.
