Anyone fitted a K&N or an intake system to a CRD as yet?
I am not to keen to start messing with the ECU as yet but on the intake?????

I wouldn't put a K&N filter on my rig, they don't filter very well. The dustier your environment the further I'd get from the K&N. The induction system on the Jeep is very well designed already.

I'll secon spoonplugger's view!

Also beware of foam filters - there are a lot of turbo's with bits of foam stuck behind compressor wheels - the rest of the foam is in the intercooler or engine. TD & foam filters dont mix.

If you want to improve the performance;
1. fix the exhaust system (2.75"-3" all the way)
2. plugin a diesel tuning module (like the ENG-TEK or similar unit)
3. find a quality hi-flow filter. Most factor filters are OK - its usually the filter box & old side ducting thats in need of attention

Yep, as long as you only do highway driving in an urban area, a LONG way away from any serious dust.

While my friend in TX was still living in Wyoming, he interacted with a lot of people and companies that used diesels. One mining company tried going with a reuseable filter to save money, on all their trucks and equipment. Inside of 6 months they were rebuilding the engines on every piece of gear they put them on, they let thru so much dust. Same thing with guys who owned diesels as POV's, every one that tried a "high flow" reuseable filter in that area ended up trashing their engines.

I'll second that view.

also note that foam filters are bad news on turbo engines too, the turbo sucks too hard and eventually the foam desintegrates and goes into the turbo & motor.
