It is not a very good idea to leave your cruise control on when you are in snowy conditions. That is very dangerous. I don't care if you are in 4wd or not. I wouln't even do it when it is raining. There have been more than a few people hitting the ditch when it was raining because they had their cruise control on. When your tires slip and you lose speed, the cruise tells the car to go faster and gives it more power. The next thing you know, you're in the ditch.

I recently bought a Digi CR and five Firestone Destinatin AT's for my CRD. The tires are sized 245/70/16 and have very light rubbing at full lock. We went back to ND to visit the parents and had to drive through a blizzard with lots of compacted snow and ice on the roadway. I shifted the CRD into fulltime and left the cruise set at 65. We didn't slip, slide, or do anything but track straight down the highway. I was impressed. The tires aren't any louder than the stockers and ride the same. Keep in mind the tires had maybe 1,000 miles on them when we went on the trip so this may have had something to do with their performance. Also they are supposed to last for 50,000. The Digi CR is a bundle of fun! I started out on C and found that it added a little more to the Jeep but of course I wanted more. I went up to D and the grin factor went up too. All of a sudden I'm driving a responsive better shifting truck. It should have come from the factory this way. On the way back from ND we had to tow a 6x12 Uhaul loaded with our crap. I turned the box up to E and was pleasantly surprised. At E the CRD pulled the trailer without any problems and mileage was 16 to 18. Not great but considering I'm driving a box pulling a box I wasn't disappointed. The mileage on setting D on the trip up was mixed. On the trip from Phoenix to Flagstaff I got 21. This is what I normally get except on this trip the Jeep didn't shift down on any of the uphill climbs. I set the cruise at 75 and the Jeep held it no matter the grade we were pulling. From Flagstaff to Albequerqe we hit 30 while going 75 on the interstate. This is an improvement over the 25-27 I normally get while doing 75. In NM we turned North and hit a wall of wind that got worse the closer to ND we got. Mileage varied from 24 to 27. Overall I'm very happy with the Digi CR. As soon as I'm able to put a Suncoast in my tranny I'm going to have the Inmotion tune done and piggyback the box. That should be serious fun.

Put this in the thread about bucking please, its a good description of what I experienced when using cruise in heavy rain w/standing highway water. Fortunatly I realized it was the issue quickly and disengaged.

I appreciate the concern but I grew up in ND and have driven on crappy roads in crappy weather for most of my life. I have yet to have a cruise control do what you say. I've had them disengage when there was too much wheelspin but never had one add more power to the point I end up in the ditch. If I were driving on compacted snow/ice that had ridges that could suck you in the ditch I wouldn't have had the cruise set and I would have been going about 10 mph.

No problem. I am from Montana so I have driven a few snow packed roads myself. I just don't use the cruise.

No black smoke and the module was just over $600.00.
