Finally happen to me.

My CRD has 33,000 miles and has been running great averaging 25 to 27 mpg.

I brought it in Tues to have the fuel filter replaced, fix the towing lights (which have never worked right )and to change the drive train fluid. The dealer is in Northern Va.

Yesterday they told me they were having problems fixing the towing harness and the the CRD was not ready. They wouldn't return my call last night to get a status.

I stopped by the dealer this morning to find out what was going on. The service rep said in addition to the towing wiring harness the CRD would not start and they had to order a new computer. I asked him how that could happen to a vechicle that was running great and he said sometimes things like that happen.

Sounds to me that the Tech somehow fried the computer when performing engine check.

Luckily I have the 85,000 mile waranty and have a rental car provided.

Last time I bring it to this dealer for normal service.

Was your towing harness put on at the dealer or did it come from the factory? If the dealer installed it I can understand why your having problems. I installed the harness on my 06 and I can tell you first hand the directions that are only pictures just plain sucks :!: On most (non EVIC) cars it requires two lines from the rear to the front with one going to the battery area in addition to the brake wire. There is a special cable for this. These two wires are already in the front of the jeep but they don't use them They tap into the convience outlet to trigger the battery charge line to the trailer. The problem there is it's always on and should be switched. And there's already a wire/circuit for that in the fuse panel beside the driver's door fuse panel. The second wire that goes to the battery provides power to the relays that runs the tail lights. Without it you'll have no tail lights. There's already a wire going through the firewall for that too but just try to find where it goes after it enters the firewall

Here's some brief info about it:
So what Mopar Harness do you need? This is the main harness for the round seven hookup. 82207248 Trailer Tow Wiring Harness Kit, with 7-way round connector, plugs directly into the vehicle wiring, for vehicles without overhead console, also order PN 82207620 below. Now is when I pray that you have an overhead console because life is easier for you! As mentioned in the product description if you don't have the overhead console you also need to order the supplemental harness PN 82207620, like I did. (If you're in the this group, I'll refer to you as one of the "Chosen Few" for future reference. And being one of the "Chosen Few" is definitely not a bonus in this writeup). If you're like me, then get ready to become familiar with the removal of ALL the interior trim pieces on the right side of your Libby in addition to parts of your dash.
The two Mopar installs are the same, exept for the
I got the info here
