Its CEL time! The dealer found P0105 and P0100

I had a CEL checked out this afternoon at the Jeep stealer and it showed a problem with the MAF and Boost Sensor. The MAF was "out of range" or some such silly thing and the Boost sensor they weren't sure about. They said they would charge me $96 to hook up the scanner if it turned out to be something that was not under warranty and after determining it was probably not covered under warranty they told me it would take at least FOUR friggin' hours to fully diagnose. Needless to say, I will not be going back to that "5 star" dealer.

Thus far the info I have found on LOST relates to the cleaning the MAP sensor - which I did about a month ago. I will do it again but I also wonder if it might be related to the fact that I had the MAF unplugged (ORM) for over a thousand miles (with CEL) and last week plugged it back in to check the performance difference. The CEL turned off as it should and I didn't think any more of it....until it went back on again yesterday.

Is this likely something I can toy with, clean, sing to and otherwise fix myself or is there anything the P0105 boost pressure code might be indicating that might need big $?
What are the possibilities?

I had the P0105 and the dealer replaced the boost sensor and problem solved. You could order one and replace it yourself. If you've cleaned it before then you know how easy it would be. That would be my bet on what it is.

Is there a chance that the boost the boost sensor is sensing needs a boost? :roll:

In other words, is the sensor just used for engine control functions or is it - like a temp light - a warning that something major is wrong.

I believe there would be a different code if there was say a hole in the boost hose or a bad turbo. I believe P0105 means that the ECM is getting bad info from the sensor, not like a constant low or high reading in normal range. I'm no expert but replacing the boost sensor worked for me. You could try cleaning it first, maybe that would work but I doubt it.

I would try swapping the MAP sensors between your CRDs and see if the problem follows the sensor or the Jeep.

My wife had been complaining of stall and bad starts and I have not touched hers at all since I am using it as a basis of comparison against mine as I continue to modify it. Her MAP was completely clogged so I assume this had something to do with it. I clean it best I could and then took it out for an Italian Tuneup. Seems to run fine now. Mine was not dirty. It was oily, but not caked with dry soot I have seen in others.

Used for engine control most definatly. Remove wire to MAP and the jeep will go into limp mode.

The boost pressure is used to regulate the amount of fuel put into your cylinders.
