Was your towing harness put on at the dealer or did it come from the factory? If the dealer installed it I can understand why your having problems. I installed the harness on my 06 and I can tell you first hand the directions that are only pictures just plain sucks
On most (non EVIC) cars it requires two lines from the rear to the front with one going to the battery area in addition to the brake wire. There is a special cable for this. These two wires are already in the front of the jeep but they don't use them They tap into the convience outlet to trigger the battery charge line to the trailer. The problem there is it's always on and should be switched. And there's already a wire/circuit for that in the fuse panel beside the driver's door fuse panel. The second wire that goes to the battery provides power to the relays that runs the tail lights. Without it you'll have no tail lights. There's already a wire going through the firewall for that too but just try to find where it goes after it enters the firewall
