how do i go about cleaning the inside of the inter cooler... i have the SEGR, a CCV filter, and i want as much of my intake as clean as possible, so what do i have to do? |

Pull it, pour a gallon of clean Diesel fuel into it, slosh it around, drain it, flush it with hot soapy water, flush it with hot clear water, drain it, slip it back in - |

Should be good. Be sure to post back on pulling the intercooler. Not sure if that will be a big deal or not. Wonder what the service manual has to say about it. |

I have seen a great dane with a pretty good beer buzz going, that was pretty funny. The dog had sense enough to quit while he could still walk. Can't say the same for the owner. ...oil scum. ULSD or paint thinner will work and not destroy your engine if a few drops get in. Lacquer thinner may react with the seals between the tanks and core. GMCTD has a good tried and true method that works. Steve |

i am looking for any info here... so GMCTD's diesel is the best and safest way... so i looked through the electronic copy of the FSm and i could not find how to remove he CAC... the hoses on the other hand are in there.

If you are going to clean out the intercooler, you might want to consider a pressure test on it as well. After putting 35 psi to it, if it leaks more than 5lb in 15 seconds, you are on the loosing end. If it is leaking more than that, it is robbing you of power and mpgs. If you are removing the intercooler to clean out, take it to a good diesel shop. They usually have what it takes to hook up the intercooler for a pressure test. You can also have it tested while it is mounted in the vehicle. A LOT of people (including semi truck owners) don't get this simple test done. Only takes a few minutes and may save you fuel and a turbo. If the intercooler is leaking, the turbo has to work that much harder to build pressure to what is needed. If Mopar doesn't want to replace it even if warranty still in effect, it may be a wise choice just to go ahead and buy a replacement yourself. Of course, this is all academic if your intercooler is holding pressure well and not a problem. Just clean it out and boogy on down the road. |

Would that also be a problem for us EU guys with old wastegated turbos? I got a boost gauge can I use that to spot a leaky intercooler? |
