I would like to add my name to the "HELL NO" list.

I wanted a diesel. I looked at Jettas, but those suckers were WAY too expensive. Then I realized I needed something to tow my trailer, which a Jetta might not have done very well. Granted our sampling size is minimal but just for giggles let's say this represents the 11,000 CRD owners....it suggests that Jeep pulled over 10.000 NEW customers they would not have had without the CRD.

It helps make the case for a wider range of diesel vehicles.

I was very satisfied with my XJ but after owning many vw diesels including 2 TDI's I wanted a small diesel 4x4 as I have diesel fuel in my veins

I just wish it was more jeep and less Chrysler with a ASIN transmission instead of what we got :cry:

Just curious if you would have bought a Liberty if the CRD was not Available. I know I probably would not have gotten one.

My selection process went like this: Chrysler->Diesel->Liberty CRD The first since I had a discount due to relations, the second because I wanted a diesel for environmental and long term cost reasons, the third because it was the only offering without buying a huge truck.

My process was 1) Newer diesel. 2) Jeep > VW as fuel cost for biodiesel is cheap and 4WD rules.

Our process was this. 2004, head diesel Liberty being released. Want one. Cannot justify $25k when a $500 Jeep with bullit holes does just as well. 2005, start bidding on wrecked CRDs, continue to get outbid at around $2500-3k. 2007, finally purchase CRD, repair and drive. Like CRD engine, do not like KJ body. We don't buy new or used vehicles, so there was not the logic of amortization of costs, we just wanted the diesel, and got stuck with a KJ body. Absolutly not. I wanted diesel with 4X4. I was looking in to get a diesel RAM, until I heard of this little beast. The RAM was a little big for my purposes, the VW's a little small, and the MB's (newer) too expensive, also no 4X4 on either of the VW or MB. I would of never bought a liberty without the diesel. If there was only a Dakota with a diesel in it.

My proces was: diesel -> 4x4 ability on sand must be ok -> comfy on the road as well-> cheap -> powerful -> good towing -> nissan patrol or jeep kj. Guess what I ended up with!

Because of my big GMC (which he wanted) and the Dodge, #2son wanted a Diesel 4x4, maybe in a sport ute - like me, he'll start it up just to listen to it purr.......................

For me: NO What I looked for: Slightly used COMMON RAIL DIESEL, 4X4, SUV or Pickup with towing capacity. Had a Wrangler Unlimited 4 door been an option, I would have bought it instead. Steve

I would have kept developing my 2002 KJ...but the " Deisel Devil" in me made me get the CRD. Now with fuel prices what they are...I still would have got the CRD 4x4...and then get a scooter...oh yeah, I did.

I was looking at TDI Jettas before I found the CRD. I have a van for projects and just wanted a fun diesel. Towing capacity and 4x4 wasn't something I even thought I wanted till AFTER I bought it. Now, I'm a born-again jeeper, but if not for the CRD, I wouldn't be.

Nothing wrong with the 545RFE trans, Joe - the software is the problem, and woulda been the same with the Aisin trans - and you'da still gotta plastic stator - 'at's right, folks: even the mighty Aisin AS68RC has a humongous plastic stator - hmmmm.......come to think of it, that movie was even more popular in Japan, than here............
