Ok, witnessed PA DOT pulling a sample from a Cummins Ram Tank. And a friend who does construction had his powerstrokes sampled. Darn. There goes my aspirations for getting Off Road Diesel in a storage tank for myself. I gotta see this, a DOT flunkie pulling a sample from my crd, Well they'd better pay me for it. Sorry Everybody, I hate like heck to report this |

Not that I condone using it on road, but what are the odds that they would check a libby. I have pumps shut off on my at gas stations with an overhead speaker going "thats diesel sir". -c |

I agree. Since the stock Liberty CRD doesn't have any badges on it that say "diesel", if you removed the CRD badge, you'd look exactly like a gasser. No one is going to bother you. |

Police and DOT do same roadside checks over here in UK and have done for years, Police set up at side off road and if your pulled in they dip your tank,if your found to be running red they seize the vehicle give you a £500 fine and make you have the total system drained flushed and then re inspected, sometimes a new tank and fuel lines are needed as after re testing the swab still comes out red.Never used it myself but i know several people who have and most have been caught out using. |

Difference is over here the majority of 4x4's are diesels, so more chances of being pulled. |

And what else would you expect, given the price of diesel these days? Can't say I have any sympathy at all for anyone who gets caught running untaxed fuel. You pay Caesar what he's due, or prepare to pay up/go to jail when you get caught. |

I suppose the reason folks burn red fuel is to save a little money. If you want to save a lot of money and be easier on the air, make biodiesel. Mine costs me $1.00 per gallon in materials, and it's saving me more than $1000 a year over pump diesel at $4.00 a gallon. |

Coal Cracker: Do they bother to check the ID of the driver and make sure the Drivers License number matches up with the description of the driver in the data base? Or do they just get wrapped up with the truck and the registration? DOT can be a little Nazi at times. |

Giving special breaks to some users of diesel and not others. Well For instance , in Pa. we're taxed about 40 cents a gallon. Now the taxes collected from fuel was supposed to go road repairs and maintaining them, Hmmmm that hasn't happined. Now they want to make our local interstates TOLL ROADS. Well now wait a miniute, I thought the 40 cen a gallon fuel tax that was implemented was supposed to pay for that. It shure hasn't helped in filling potholes, lol there's some I'd need 4x4 to get out of. I have no problem with the law, and if I got cought with red oil it's my fault and no one else's |

Biodiesel does not have any of the color markers they are looking for. And what's it to them where the fuel came from? If its not red, then its not any of their business where you got it. Just say you don't remember where you filled up last, if they even ask. Its not illegal to have biodiesel stickers, nor is it illegal to "blend" your own fuel. You might just be blending 20 gallons of biodiesel with 20cc of dino. Let them prove that you made it. Its not worth the fight for them. |

So write your Congressman, and tell him you don't want tax breaks for on fuel for farmers and construction companies. I'm no fan of high diesel prices, but not everything is a government conspiracy. |

Sorry Everybody, I hate like heck to report this Here is a question, you have to give a leo consent to search your vehicle, do you have to do the same to have your tank dipped? Can I refuse to allow them to search my gas tank? Can I refuse and tell them to get a warrant? Do they have probably cause to search my tank based on the fact that I have a diesel vehicle? |
