Has anyone seen this before? http://www.dieselsecret.com/index.html It's basically some additive you put in fry oil to make very cheap biodiesel. I was curious if anyone has any experience with this? If something sounds too good to be true, chances are it is. ![]() |

If something sounds too good to be true, it usually is, or in this case it definetly is. Don't give them any money and don't use more than B20 in a CRD |

I've run B100 in both my former 2001 Jetta TDI, and in my KJ. The KJ loves it as much as the TDI did. As for diesel secret: It's as real as the bridge I have to sell you. Just remember: A Fool and His Money. |

If it really turns WVO or VO into deisel for 46 cents a gallon, why isn't some doing it commercially and selling "deisel" for $3,75 a gallon? ![]() |

DieselSecret does not work, at all. It's been busted as a myth product (it and many others like it) on 5 or more diesel-related websites for all makes. At best it gasoline-alcohols down the WVO with a cetane booster and this is supposed to magically work in your engine... it might, for a few thousand miles, and then your going to break something. It won't be pretty. I disagree on the B20 comment, however. We've put all blends in, and the higher the blend the more the CRD seemed to like it. Remember the CRD was designed for 0-5PPM Sulfur fuel, not the 550PPM fuel it was getting, and now the 15PPM that is common. Biodiesel has 0 sulfur, so in theory (in my mind) B99 = as close to spec fuel for the VM engine as I can get state side. Without paying for GTL fuel prices out of Cali, plus shipping. |

Total Crap. BioDiesel only costs .33 cents per gallon! 2 stage acid base, methonol recovery and free WVO. If you don't recover the meth, then it will cost you about .76 per gallon. |

First; Diesel Secret is total crap, google it, you'll find all sorts of info. Second; CRD's are fine with b50, ran it all last summer and even up to about b80 a few times. B20 all winter. Third; wvo is not free many places, anymore. Around here it is sold, and going around collecting at night is considered theft. The more dino prices increase, the more the demand for wvo will increase, and therefore the price too. |

Sort of figured that it was probably too good to be true... ![]() I've run B99 in my CRD with no problems... well ALMOST no problems... it colder than expected one week and the CRD didn't like it much... nothing some dino diesel mixed in didn't resolve! |

Running B100 at every chance we get(which isn't very often), local stations to me only sell B20. |

Everytime this crap comes up it pains me. IT'S NOT BIODIESEL!!! Ok, I feel better. DSE is vegetable oil blended with gasoline and kerosene plus a super special extra secret ingredient that does absolutely NOTHING. And you CAN'T make it for 40 cents a gallon -- that was the price with gasoline at $2.00. It still costs as much as biodiesel to make, and it's tricky tempermental stuff that requires a degree of experimentation to get right. I would never put in a new diesel like a CRD, you are asking for trouble. |

This is a perfect example of why this is a great site. In a very short time you can get great information. Diesel secret is something to be avoided at all costs. They might as well try to sell an immortality pill. |

this dse your talking about ,know a guy who is doing it,says it ok but not convinced as for BIO DIESEL,not enough used here yet for stations to sell, some schools buses are using it, some say causes problems some say not but with cost of fuel going mad in prices, has to be cheaper fuel for people to buy as its getting to be a joke |

the original "DS" receipe comes out of World War II, and it runs fine in the low-tech, burn-anything-including-sawdust diesel engines of that era. But it you put it in a high-tech modern diesel, plan to replace the entire engine in a few thousand miles, just about the time you've figured out you've been scammed. I downloaded the MSDS they are required by law to give anyone who asks for it. The "secret" is composed of mothballs dissolved in xylene. Xylene, for those who don't know, is a normal component of gasoline, an aromatic compound with an octane rating of around 120, the exact opposite of what you want to fuel your diesel with. So, think about it, a mix of mothballs, racing gas, and veggie oil. Guaranteed to coke up your injectors while eroding the orfices, burn like crap, and separate fools from their money paying for the "secret." There's a reason the VW TDI Forum at Fred's promises to blacklist any poster who starts a thread "asking" about this stuff. |

And I will be one to support this here too, should the need arise. On some biodiesel sites last year there was shill after shill posting on this subject, new thread after new thread. It gets out of hand and extremely annoying.

Post subject: | Buyer Beware!! |
There have been several threads started about this stuff and the folks over on the infopop forums also blacklist any poster asking about it. I actually bought the kit before doing the research. I have talked to a guy that uses it in his older normally aspirated V8 truck and it runs fine, but he even told me that he uses high quality, dry, ultra filtered oil to make it with and he said he would NEVER run it in a modern diesel. Kerosene around my neck of the woods is over $8/gal and is hard to find in bulk. So there is no way you can make this stuff for as cheap as they claim. On top of that, they use a generalized formula that doesn't take the quality of the oil into account. I would stay away from this stuff if you love your CRD as much as I do. |

I got a buddy who mixes WVO, gas, and cetane booster in drums to put in diesels. I told him where he could pour it... ...just because I love the B100, everyone thinks I will run my trucks on anything. Oh yeah, my propane CJ7 runs like a champ. Hopefully, next week I'll get my alt. fuel certification! Travis |
