I just took a '06 for a test drive. Jeep site only shows 'Blower Motor' recall outstanding. After about a 10 min. drive w/one 0 to 60 run. About 4 or 5 min after the 0 to 60 run, and normal in traffic accelerations, the little mule nosed over and seemed like it was asleep. No CEL, no other lights. I stopped at a stop light for a right hand turn, engine seemed to knock with a severe miss. Still idled OK, didn't die. Light goes Green, I try to go, barely starts to move, I have to get out of the intersection so I give it a lot of throttle but all I get is slow moving and people actually honking behind me! I pulled over about 100' after the turn. turn engine off and restart. Starts up fine, seems to run almost as good as when I got in it. Any ideas?
Dave

Air in fuel system - prime it using the hand pump.

You may need to change the fuel filter cannister, if it's restricting fuel flow that tends to make the problem worse.

Agreed, most likely air in fuel filter.

Use it to lowball dealer. Tell them you are doing them a favor by buying it from them. See how they react to their own BS.

Hi Dave
Mine did the same thing a year or so ago. Like 4 blocks from the house. It was almost
as if it was running on 2 cylinders. I did as you, pulled over and restarted and all was fine.
After that, I cleaned the MAP sensor and it was a mess, but I still do not know if that was
the problem or not, seeing it has not done it again.
Ain't jeep life grand?

Steve

That is probably it!
Is this a common issue after making the engine work? This was my first drive with a VM CRD.
When it was running right, it was very responsive! The rest of the Liberty left a little to be desired. (only 25,000 miles on the clock)
Felt a little too much like a Tracker!

Because the KJ does not have a lift pump the fuel system is under a constant vacumm, eventually enough air builds up and needs to be bleed out.

Mark, Sam, Steve,

Thanks for the quick response. Fuel filter does make sense. I guess I'm spoiled, I've not had any issues with my GM diesel fuel filters probably 'cause they get changed every 10K miles during usual maint.

Thanks again!

Dave

Even with a new fuel filter this same issue can occur, generally about once a month you just need to take the 30 secs and bleed the air out so it does not buildup and cause a problem.

I can say that mine had this issue bad. It would become gutless after stepping on the go pedal and letting off. I would have to stop and bleed the thing. Problem solved with the lift pump. Go's all the time now.
