MAP Sensor Location

Post subject:  MAP Sensor Location
Can some one post or point me to better pics on where exactly the MAP sensor is located?
I need a little extra hand holding as it just doesn't seem obvious to me on exactly where it is.

I looked at that pic and it didn't make it too obvious. Is there any pics that are from a little farther out that point out its location?

Did you get the plastic cover off the motor?
Look down at the motor at about where the 3rd cylinder would be.
On the right side just behind, underneath a bunch of wires is the map sensor.
The toughest part for me was taking the retaining washers off that hold the wire loom in place.
I used plastic nuts to replace the retaining washers.
One little bolt holds the sensor in place.

If still lost match the picture up with your motor, you will find it, well worth cleaning.

You and your non-standard 2.8... doesn't the US-spec KJ sensor only have one allen bolt in it (as opposed to 2)?

Yes, but the sensor and everything important is still in the same place.

Also, this is the 2.5.

Our Map has 1 bolt. It is a 4MM hex and has a washer on top of it. Easy to lose
the washer when you remove it.
It is located under the wiring harness, right hind side. Trying to get a pic
for a member but no go for now.

I cleaned my MAP as suggested, but now its not working. Error code P0107 MAP Ground Fault. Can cleaning it harm the sensor, did I maybe harm the connector... All suggestions are appreciated.

make sure your connector is seated properly

Thanks, i realized that i managed to slightly push one of the pins out the back side of the connector and I didn't notice it at first. Thanks for your help.

After viewing this site and reading all the teck, finally pulled mine after checking the mileage and it was down to 18mpg, it looked just like the photo, cleaned it, mine only had the one bolt on it?. After reinstalling it, it started just like allways, is it just the mileage that I am going to notice?. :D :D

Sam's engine is the generation before 05 and 06 generation we have in the US and they had 2 screws. His is a 2.5L and the 05 and 06 US ones are 2.8L :wink:

Yup, US CRDs will have one bolt.

Man, I thought I would be helping by posting those pictures, turns out I managed to confuse alot of people.


And JourneyJim your startup wont be any different, but you should notice a change in mileage, do this as regular maintenance to keep your Jeep a happy camper.
