I'm really happy that it worked out cheap for you, the price I could present for you was horrid.

Well heres another kicker, I could have my US dealer lookup the part and give me a price, $350, but they couldn't order it........like ok?

Since the XJ or TJ gauge cluster lacks a glow plug light, Water In Fuel, or Low coolant light another solution has presented itself nicely:

Its the "Vehicle information center" for the diesel XJs, I'm probably going to try and pick up the little bugger for my swap, though that will probably be a "down-the-road" task as its not necessary for it to run.

Well the tow truck arrived today with the MJ, battery was dead so I had to push it up into the driveway.

Put the battery charger on it and after a few hours it cranked enough for it to catch and startup.

Had the battery charger on all day untill about 6:30, took the charger off, started it once, then shut it off. An hour later I came back and it turned over once or twice and then just clicked.

Ran down to sams club and got a new battery, dropped it in and it fired right up. Moved it back and forth a little bit before backing it out of the driveway and going for a quick spin in my culdesac. Drives just fine, brakes feel a little soft.

Oil on the dipstick looks about 2 quarts overfilled(way overfilled), right now after it runs for a little bit oil just spits out from around the valve cover. I will drain some oil, degrease engine, and then take a look at things.

I saw no evidence of coolant leak when I drove it. Who knows.

Oh ya, and the parking brake doesn't work. Also, it was a trip not to find it next to the center console, I wasn't expecting that.

Fun stuff. I watched your CRD come up for auction, though I was never able to see what it sold for.

Oh well.

Nice to see ya around again!

It's all good as long as no one got hurt. I am having alot of fun restoring my Mighty Max and I am collecting parts to juice the engine up by upgrading to a ported and polished head, intercooler, watercooled turbo, and of course Propane injection. When it's all said and done I hope to have 150 hp and 300 ft lbs of torque. I am hoping to be done for the most part by the end of the month. I am also having some other stuff done while it's down for repairs. Here's a couple teasers Sam.

The truck is very, very clean. I bought it 5 years ago out of southern California. There are actually 2 axles in that picture. The crates are stacked on one another. They are both JK Rubicon axles with factory elockers from Mopar Performance. The Front is getting set up on some Fox coilovers and the rear will be a spring over on some Alcan leaf springs. THis is the closest I can come to a JK turbo diesel.

Sam, do any work on the MJ lately? I am really excited to see this. Here's my progress this week. Just a few more teasers. I know the tires looks small but they are 32" tires.

Nope, I started it up today when a friend came over, and I grabbed a few parts at the junkyard that I knew I would eventually need. Oh and maybe in like 1.5 weeks I will have my Jeep 2500 parts.

Someone egged my convertible that I have for sale yesterday, the paint was less than a week old on the hood, so I had to spend about 6 hours today refinishing it. Which meant that was 6 hours I couldn't spend working on the mercedes in my garage, which meant that I am 6 hours further away from getting to work on the MJ.

I need the Mercedes out of the way before I can start on the MJ.

And I need to sell my redvert before I have the funds to complete the swap, still need a trans, xfer case, and front end.

Plus all the misc things like hoses, PS lines, etc etc

As you can see its just a normal H3 bulb. I'm thinking H4 Xenons for the headlights, and H3 Xenons for the low beams........hehehehe
Looks good zluster! I might get the front clip too. That all black grill is nice! Did you get the entire front clip?
I got everything but the "water proof" - it will not work for the MJ.

I decided they would look better out in the sun, so I went and took some more pics. Turns out they are way cooler looking out there:

Wow, this is going to be so cool Sam. Those lights and fenders will update the whole look of the truck.

bought this NV3550 for my MJ today for $550:

As you can see the bellhousing is broken so I got him down by $50, its the wrong bellhousing for me anyways, pictured next to it is the correct bellhousing for the CRD engine.

(lotsa pics of them and closeups to boot!)

This has got to be one of the coolest projects I have seen in a while. How much shipped to 93535?

BTW, How much did the whole China front end cost when it was all said and done?

What a steal! I am so tempted to just buy the setup in anticipation of finding an MJ or another XJ to convert.
