Driving to work this morning the Jeep was downshifting really roughly. By the time I got to work (12 miles from home), the check engine light had come on and it didn't want to downshift while in D as I came up the ramp into my parking garage. I pulled it down into 2 manually and it chugged right along just fine. I fear what my drive home might hold in store... I've never had an automatic tranny before getting this truck. Can this be anything other than the venerable TC going out? Anyone know if this is supposed to be covered under the powertrain warranty? Oh, and where was everyone going for the aftermarket TC? |

Suncoast http://www.suncoastconverters.com/Jeep/jeep_products.html although the only time I've seen a torque converter die - it was more like a clutch slipping that wouldn't engage. check the fluid level |

That sounds more like a valve body or electronic problem rather than the TC. How many miles on it? |

Well, my little trucky ran just fine allllll the way home. CEL is still on....gotta dig out my scanner and figure out what code it's throwing. Thanks for the link to the Suncoast TC ATXKJ. I had that link bookmarked, but I lost ALL my bookmarks to a recent computer HD freeze-up. Had everything else backed up, but not my bookmarks.

Almost forgot...I can't find my scanner. It has disappeared.  Now I gotta try to borrow my buddy's and hope it works with the CRD.
