Ok so what is the consensus on the best diesel injector cleaner?
Biodiesel is good, but not available around Phoenix.
What about a product called “Seafoam”?

PowerService Silver Bottle...Diesel Kleen + Cetane Booster

It cleans injectors and the "SLICKDIESEL" is basically biodiesel.

I have a relative who swears by this stuff. I have personally never tried it, but I know it's all he uses. I just use the powerservice dieselkleen from wal mart since i'm there on a regular basis anyway.

My father swears by Seafoam, has been using it for years and adds a bottle to every tank in his Ford SD,it just past the 580,000 mile mark(all original running gear,engine,tranny,t-case,and axles).Uses it in all the farm equipment also, oil and hydrualics to.I use it on my KJ also evry 10,000 miles or so,half the bottle through a vacuum line and the other half in the gas tank.

... one of its generic knock offs. Autozone sells TL3 for less that contains "techroline".
There are many great knockoffs, house brands, OEM packaged, and custom blends that contain "techroline" the main active ingredient.
Buy your own barrel of Techroline, add it to biodesel give it a catchy name and sell it.

Just remember the Proper Alcohol (ethanol) is for Adult Beverages not injector cleaner.

Methanol used with Sodium Hydroxide is used to make biodiesel out of vegetable oil, not for injector cleaner.

Avoid any injector cleaner containing Ethanol or Methanol. Isopronol may be OK, but my CRD will not be the test mule.

History: Techroline dissolves carbon deposits that clog injectors.
Gassers would grow carbon deposits on the intake valves and choke off the engine, BMW would blast with walnut shells before Techron was developed, then the walnut shell blaster were sent to the museums. They tested Techron in diesels and it worked.
Older injectors had a small chamber between where the needle ended and the injector holes were drilled called a sack. The next generation had a low sack configuration and the ones we have now are sack less and do not hold any fuel in the sack to smolder and turn into carbon deposits. But the holes still get coated with carbon and need to get cleaned out. Injector cleaner is cheaper than poking the carbon out with a pin vise and small wire, been there done that on the oldies.

Steve

I used to stand by Lucas (which is a good product) until I tried seafoam. Now That is all I use. I dump a can into the fuel tank and use up the whole tank before each oil change. I once had an old volvo diesel which would smoke and nail something terrible. I ran the pickup and return line into a can of Seafoam and ran the whole bottle. It sure stank and made a lot of smoke but when I hooked the fuel lines back up, you would have sworn that it was a brand new engine. After that it would fire on the the first touch of the key even in winter.
