greetings all, several crd maint. questions: 1) i've read on here of members flushing or draining/refilling trans. fluid at 15 and 30K intervals, while manual calls for 62.5K. is this just extra insurance or did the manuf. miss something? 2) has anyone personally changed their engine accessory drive belt? any tips? much obliged, raymond |

The good news is once you get it on you won't need to adjust it again as it stretchs. I know of only one person here who has replaced their belt so far, and I know he had some trouble getting the new unstretched belt on. |

I did mine - it's a pain - you don't have enough clearance in the front for a regular socket - you need one of the special fan belt tools that are flat with socket on the end. Ended up spending a couple of hours on something that should have been 15 minutes. It not hard just frustrating - no room to work. |

raymond You could do it yourself with some simple tools. I took mine off to measure it to source a non genuine emergency belt. It is not that hard if you have the right tools. The pics below show what I made up to do the CRD's belt tensioner. Get hold of a 15mm ring spanner (I think you guys call it a box wrench) and some flat PVC conduit or similar to make an extension arm. My spanner was a 14/15mm item, I just cut off the 14mm end. ![]() ![]() Or you could shell out some cash and buy the real deal. I have two vehicles with the same space issues so I paid about $50 for this set to save the skin on my knuckles. ![]() ![]() |
