If you are a regular follower of this forum, you are probably already aware that my turbo nuked itself a few days ago.

My dilemma is this: I am a graduate student. FAR from able to afford the costs of a new turbo. It has been suggested that some members here may have purchased an extra turbo for themselves.

Do you have one? Where did you source it from? Would you be willing to part with it?

PLEASE send me a PM if you are interested, or post in here if you are comfortable with that. The "Rock" and the "Hard Place" are both extremely good at keeping me between them right now.

With your desired prices... PLEASE be kind. I'd love to be able to give everyone nearly-new money for their used gear, but that isn't possible.

Above all else:
THANK YOU!

Jim,

Where are you located? I can check on Monday morning to see if there are any available and how much. I know of one for sure but not sure if it's up for grabs.

Obviously you'd like something for little to no cost, but do you have a budget limit? 2-300?

Thanks.

Little to no cost would be BEYOND fantastic, you have no idea.

200-300 would be something I could consider, I'm open to options at this point.

I've never really looked at used turbos before, what kind of things should I look for to judge the quality / reliability of a given unit? Obviously, I don't want this to happen again.

Look at the vanes, they should all be straight and with no dents or other damage. (look at both sides)

Feel the axle play, just try to lift the axle with one or two fingers.

A little play is ok, but if it rattles up and down its crap.
