I was just leaving my driveway the other day, easeing up to our mailbox with a cold engine, and every light on the dash came on for about 2 seconds then went off with no loss of power. It was as if I had turned the key off but it kept going. Any thoughts?

BCM has an innate fear of recall notices?

Should have set a DTC, or several - harborfreightdotcom has the cobra codereader for ~39bucks, also clears DTC's after displaying each one - or autozone will read'em fer zip bucks

You might check service bulletins. I saw one for the Liberty the other day that mentioned intermittent flashing instrument panel lamps. I was looking at it because all my IP backlighting still flashes (gets full bright) intermittently at night.

The bulletin definitely mentioned IP indicator lights though. I don't recall the specifics, but the fix was a new BCM .......

I can look up the TSB for you later this week at my friends shop if you (or someone else here) can't find it, just PM me.

Good luck!

BV, I had the exact same thing happen to me at around 25,000 miles. I'm now at 95,000 miles and it never happened again.

Thanks for the info. I'm at 41000 miles. I may let it ride until it either gets worse or I decide to spring for the $250 deductible that I have for repairs.

I have had this happen once at 33,000 miles. Same situation... cold engine... coasting away from the house.

No codes thrown.

I blamed it on the scangauge that I had connected at the time.

I had this once, about 20 months ago, under the same circumstances. Never happened again.

I do, however, have the dash backlight flareups I believe CHessMaster is describing. I only really drive in the dark in the winter but they occur maybe once every couple of weeks then.
