I'm in N. Florida and the weather is getting hot.
I'm still running with the grille partially blocked, leaving only the middle three
slots open.
And the temp gauge needle still stays just to the left of center.

Avg. commute: 20 miles each way
Avg. speed: 55mph
terrain: flat
load: just me and my stuff
ORM/SEGR: yes
exhaust mods: removed muffler
type of coolant: whatever came stock
last coolant flush: hasn't been done yet
aux trans cooler: no
TSB 08-043-05 performed: not to my knowledge
F37: yes

I think that there a variety of issues that together cause overheating.
And I dont think that a bigger radiator is the solution.
Maybe together we can find the right combinations to help those with
overheating problems.

BTW, TSB 08-043-05 has to do with overheating problems

Only 'problem' I had was a pegged gauge towing. After one of the flashes I've never had an issue since.

It was heat related. I had fuel issues for the hottest part of last year (100+). Where if I didn't let the engine cool down after running, I'd get air in the filter head and have to bleed it daily, but otherwise only about once a week. That's all fixed now with the cummins pump.

My temperature gauge will rise above halfway climbing hills in OD. Shut of the OD and the needle comes back. I also get high temperature gauge readings in hot weather and stop/go traffic.

Twice got into overheat mode and engine killed power, both on mountain grades at low speed. I waited until the transmission went into overheat mode and locked the torque converter in 2nd gear, then proceeded to charge up the mountain. I blame the trans.

Once got into overheat mode doing dirt donuts at Mounds Off Road Park. I blame the driver.

In all cases the vehicle still drove, so I don't consider them 'problems.' If the torque converter didn't waste so much crankshaft energy going up the mountain, the engine wouldn't have overheated.

I had the guage 2.5 ticks to the right of center yesterday climbing up out of Verde Valley headed South toward Phx AZ, 4 people(500+ lbs), pod on top, 3 bikes on back, dog, 2 cats, 2 inflatable kayaks, other misc. stuff and the AC on. MPH dropped to 55 and 4th gear by the time I got to the top of the climb. This is the first time I had the temp go up on the climb under similar conditions(except now have SEGR where before I had ORM). Outside temp at 10:30 a.m. was prolly 95-100F.

My Liberty seemed to struggle up all grades this trip. Fuel economy was down around 21-22 except for the 26.7 mpg I got running from Ridgway to Durango, back to Ridgway then to Cortez, CO. I haven't filled up since getting back from Cortez but I had slightly more than a quarter tank left and 390 miles on the trip odometer so I'm guessing I got close to 25 on the way home.
